The pyramids of Egypt are an example of a culture that used simple machines to help do their work. They used the wheel and axle which provided them a way to lift and carry heavy stones. Egyptians used pulleys to also transport stone up to a higher level. They would drop a basket of sand and have a basket filled with rocks on the other side that's lifted up. Ramps are an example of a simple machine that was used throughout the building process. Most likely they were wrapped around the pyramid in a sort of incline, therefore making it an inclined plane. Not only did they use simple machines but also skids to help decrease the amount of friction between the bricks and ground.
