Slabhenge And Grisby
The setting takes place on a island, where it holds a reformatory school called Slabhenge. It's a dark and damp ancient place, surrounded by dark restless seas.
The main character Jonathan grisby is the newest arrival at scar island.
Some of the problems he has to face is the kids, as they were picking on him the first day he arrived. Another problem he faced was the food, as he cooked pancakes, eggs, and sausages for the adults they just got oatmeal.

The book started out with Jonathan grisby on a boat heading to scar island and when he got there he was sent to the admiral. When he met the admiral he was told to write a note to his parents saying it's his fault he is here and will be taken care of.
When he was dont he was sent to bed without a meal and no pillow or blanket. A couple days later all of the boys were sent to the court yard. All of them were on one side and the admiral and all of the adults were with them. It was pouring and thundering all around them. The admiral started a speech about all of them being scabs on our nation.

I really liked the book scar island. I really liked this book because there was a lot of thrill, and it was a fast pace to it. It was really easy to read and comprehend. It wasn't that predictable but it was believable. I really liked the ending. My favorite part of the book was when the admiral and the adults were all electrocuted by

The only problem was that his children no longer recognized him. They thought he was a stranger that was sent back in their fathers place. They thought this because he looked much older than his actual age; he had dentures, and had no hair. Their father was completely different from what they remember he no longer did the fun activities he did with his children before he was taken away like drawing, singing, and putting puppet shows on for them. This passage got my attention because this is similar to something that happened in my life…

Every story, every novel and, in fact, every great literary work, shares one thing in common: a setting. These vivid compositions are exquisitely weaved around a place, time and social circumstance. The element of setting is used to create a specific atmosphere, and thus, helping to establish a desired mood. It provides valuable insight into the fundamental background of any storyline. In addition, the setting acts as a profound influence on plot progression and character development by compelling actions, internal and external conflicts, as well as the themes of a novel. Mary Lawson’s Crow Lake, a moving story of family, love and tragedy, is no exception. Lawson effectively develops the themes of isolation, familial bonds and educational ambitions through brilliant usage of the settings: Crow Lake, the ponds, and the university, respectively.…

I decided to choose the book “Stormbreaker” because in the library there was a poster of it and it looked like a good book, it is also a movie I haven’t seen it yet though. I believe it is going to be about a teenage spy/action hero. I think I’m going to enjoy reading this book because it is an action book that seems quite exciting. The librarian said it was a popular book when I went to borrow it so I hope it is going to be as good as it sounds. I haven’t heard of the author “Anthony Horowitz” before and don’t believe I have read any of his other books.…

My favorite text was by far Sula, by Toni Morrison. This novel was one that I understood well, including the metaphors, plot, character development, and more. Sula as a whole was very interesting to me. After just a few chapters, I couldn’t put the book down. The storyline was very compelling, as were a lot of the characters. In comparison to others, this book was the easiest read, and had an excellent flow, which isn’t to say that I don’t like a challenge when I read my books, but the writing being at a more accessible level left more room to understand the intricate metaphors and messages Morrison was trying to convey. In Sula, one character that always piqued my interest was Shadrack. I’m not sure what it was about him, but I tried very…
