There is increasing evidence that racism may be psychologically damaging. Studies show that racism can be the foundation for mental health problems. Studies also show that racism can cause post-traumatic stress syndrome. The black church is said to be the only African American institution that whites do not look down upon. Harvard psychiatrist, Alvin, Poussaint, stated that suicide rates among black men doubled between 1980 and 1995. He says that because of racism, African American men may see not living better than living. These facts are controversial but they are relevant. No one likes to talk about slavery which is a problem. White provoke with complicated ancestry tend to feel guilty and embarrassed when talking about ska very too. Slavery has become something that society tends to keep in secrecy. There is not very much known about the relationship between clinical illnesses and racism, definitely not nearly enough.
