Culture is defined as the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively. Meaning that a culture is basically what one or a group of people live by. Also the culture that coincided with slavery dealt with different political arrangements such as kingdoms, city-states, and languages. So people in slavery before the 1500s, believed in cultures; however they probably did not have the same culture. Saying that one culture could be different from another, based on their beliefs. Moreover the lifestyles before the 1500s were not like the lifestyles today. Houses back then did not really have roofs but they did have thick straw on top of the houses piled high. because the straw would not be enough protection to keep the rain from coming in. Also the floors of the houses were made of dirt. Settlement before the 1500s helped a lot of people back then, because to some it was a way for others to be able to find wealth and power. Of course for the slaves it was not a time for wealth, however the slaves did have a lot of work to do. Uniquely slaves back then had to work in order to stay alive.
Many people might ask what is slavery, slavery originates from the French word slav meaning to be captured.
Slavery has always existed dating back to far as anyone can remember. Slavery started as people creating and organizing their societies and wanting and needed people to work for them. It existed in every country from Asia to Europe and the place we know as America today, which all of America 13 colonies had slaves. It’s also was not just blacks or Africans that was being enslaved Native Americans and Europeans were also slaves just to name a couple. Blacks just became a majorly population of slaves ,and it started because Africans began to trade their own people. According to Brenda Stevenson ,in here “What is Slavery “interview she stated that most Africans did not know the full extent of what was going on after they sold them. A few did because even some slaves traders became
enslaved.
The empire revolution would have been impossible without the wealth generated by slave labor. Majority of empires were built on funding slave money. The exceeded amounts of architecture for the owners, were all foundationed on the backs of slaves. A few of empire assembled from 3,000 to 1,200 BC were the Norte Chico Empire,Akkadian Empire, and the Hittite Empire. The Norte Chico Empire was a community that included 30 major population centers in what is now known as the Norte Chico region of north-central coastal Peru. The people of Norte Chico are noted to be the tranquil tribe. Their agricultural practice consisted of peanuts, avocados, and sweet potatoes. The Norte Chico centralized power and it is not actually certain but the the architecture seems as if there was authority. The three board bases of power for the society was economic, ideological and physical. Economic authority was associated towards the trade relationships. The Akkadian Empire extended from the Persian Gulf through Iraq and Syria. The governors and administrator were in charge in over 64 different cities. There were five rulers of Akkad: Sargon, also known as the “True King”, Rimush, son of Sargon, Manishtusu, son of Naram-Sin, and Shar-Kali-Sharri, the son of Naram-Sin. Shar-Kali-Sharri retained the kingdom until its destruction after 142 yrs. The aftermath of the tragedy caused the disruption in trade, which weakened the empire and later into remembrance. The Hittites Empire is inhabited of Asia Minor, modern day Turkey. Hatti people had expanded their region into an empire which intimidated the nation of Egypt. Hatti repealed assaults of Sargon the Great of Akkad and his grandson, the king of Hatti decided to curse the city and state that if anyone would put the effort of rebuilding the city would be cursed. The social structure in Hatti consisted of many farmers and slaves. Majority of their wealth came from trading minerals, such as gold and lead.
Christianity formed throughout the slave nation by the of the Civil War. Not all slaves were Christians but most were adapted into Christianity. Sunday was the day slaves would worship in local churches. The would also have prayer meetings in the slaves cabins on weeknights. The slaves would meet in the woods to pray. They would often gather behind carefully wet quilts and rags to block their voices from traveling throughout the atmosphere. Punishment was cruel,if they were caught being at secret prayer meetings. Masters hired preachers to preach. They would have to have a license in order to preach ,but they had to get their licence by the spirit. Most slaves could not read, so texts from the Bible would indicate if a slave could be a preacher. Sometimes slaves masters would not let them present at church or play therefore slaves would have secret gatherings to worship God.
