So Are You By Isaiah Zerbst
In the poem,”So Are You” by Isaiah Zerbst (poetrysoup.com), comparison is used to show the way the narrator feels about someone. I think the narrator is the poet/author because the poem is told in first person. The poet’s tone is affectionate because he is talking about how great the other person is and how he feels about her. The mood in this poem is calm, hopeful, and joyful, because the narrator makes you feel very calm/peaceful as he is talking about the girl.
The first example of a simile is,”Like a rose in the shade of a tree”. This appears in line one in the first stanza. The narrator is telling us the the girl is a very happy, lively person and he is her protection. This is gives one of the reasons why the narrator lover/cares for this
