My Book, So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti, is about a rising senior who lives in New Jersey with her mother. Her name was Brooke, she was in love with the high school jock, Scott Abrams. She was also in love with the magical city of New York, which is where her father lives. Brooke is dying to get over her fears and finally tell Scott how she feels about him, but her two best friends, April and Candice strongly advise her not to.
After years of waiting, Brooke finally gets to talk to Scott. During their conversation, he mentions that his mother got a job in New York City. Brooke is devastated. She was hoping this would finally be the year they get together. She then asks Scott where he will be going to school, and he tells her that he is going to ( ). That night a little spark of hope lights up in Brookes mind. Later that night, Brooke does some research about where her father lives, and where Scott would be going to school. As it turns out, the two are only 5 blocks away.

it's everything she hoped it would be plus more. She loved the fast-paced lifestyle, the skylights, everything. She especially loved how she could grab a sandwich at 12 o’clock at night. Seeing all the successful people in New York has driven Brooke to focus and work harder during school, therefore she decides to become a peer tutor. One of Brooke's’ pupils, John, shows her this beautiful loft on the outskirts of NYC. On that loft, she has a marvelous view of the old buildings, the empire state buildings, water towers, all the old beauties New York has to offer. She also notices all the wasted space, she begins to think of ways she could utilize that space, and bring more greenery to the area. Brooke begins to ponder these ideas, and starts researching careers in this field. She sees a job called an “Urban Planner”. The job description matched brooke and her interests perfectly. She then decided to go to New York University and study to become an Urban
