Reflection 1
From this analysis many important factors that came into play for Sociology as a whole are shown. In the first article,“William Edward Burghardt DuBois” it talks about the background of his life. He was an extremely influential African American who went into the field of
Psychology and Sociology. He is known as one of its “Founding Fathers”. He focused on and about “white domination” and he tried to improve on that factor. He worked and studied for the equality of different races, including that of colored people. DuBois later changed his thinking and believed that communism would help the equality between the different races.
DuBois using communism as a possible way to achieve equality between races is a form of sociology on its own. Using environmental factors and different types of governing would have effects on different people. In the eyes of DuBois he believed that it would create an equal environment for all and have the same opportunities for everyone to achieve a life of wealth rather than excluding a certain race or ethnicity.
In the Second article, “Sociation today” it extends more detail on W.E.B. DuBois. It shows how eventually provided an outline to be followed in different graduate and undergraduate schools, focussing on mostly research and fieldwork, allowing them to interact with society.
Lombardo 2
DuBois not only contributed a lifetime of work and information on sociology but also had researched and real life surveys conveying what he wanted to show or prove to others. In both of these artices we learn this and are shown this though hard facts.
