One example of an economic negative effect is that many workers were abused. The workers worked twelve to sixteen hours, six to seven days a week. They also had no safety regulations and had unsafe working conditions. This was negative because it was against human rights. Many people died because of the many hours they worked everyday. However, an economic positive example is that the Industrial Revolution created more jobs. For example, there were more jobs in the mining and factory industry, and more middle class services like baker’s, and lawyers etc. This example shows the economic effects of the Industrial Revolution were positive because the new method of assembly lines in companies began and they needed more workers for the products to be done faster. Products were created at a faster rate and more people had jobs which meant they had more money. By having more money they could buy more things they needed. One example of a positive effect socially was that the working class found comfort in a religious movement called Methodism. This example shows the social effects of the Industrial Revolution were positive because methodism spread the message of salvation to the working class to rekindle hope. However, an effect of how the Industrial Revolution was negative socially was that there were a lot of health problems due to pollution, and because of some jobs. Everyone developed a disease due to the pollution. One of health problems people developed was black lung disease. It was mainly miners who developed this from inhaling coal dust over a period of time. For example, Hebergam was a mill worker and he had damaged lungs and muscles. Due to the bad conditions he worked in, he would die within a year. If he died he wouldn’t be able to support his family anymore which is very bad.
