Social Worker Goals
There have been many life experiences that have led me to want to become a social worker. I was raised in a family of health professionals and nurses. Although I did not want to pursue a career in nursing, I still knew I wanted to help others. My family taught me the value of helping others. For instance, the needs of others were put before your own. I have a passion and need for helping people. My passion and need for helping people comes from knowing that I can make a difference in the world. Not only starting with one person but watching what I can do grow and expand into many other lives. This is why I have the dedication to do whatever it takes to make this dream of mine a reality. It was the year 2007, my aunt passed away from breast …show more content…
For example, understanding the problems and needs of others, having passion for the work, being non-judgmental, having determination, and good interpersonal communication skills. I believe I possess some of these skills. I am able to remain comfortable when interacting with others that have different cultures and values than me. You have to be accepting and not discriminate against people. We are all the same so we deserve the same respect. Another strength is working towards goals even when challenges and roadblocks present themselves. Having a strength such as this one is necessary because challenges will definitely present themselves in most situations when you’re working with clients. Even though I would try to encourage them to stay and if I had to sit down with them myself I would help them job search because I hate to see someone give up which is a barrier that I would face in the field of social work. I am sensitive to people’s problems and in most cases I can be emotionally involved. Being in the social work field, I have to learn how to leave my emotions at the door when I walk in because it’s not about me and how I feel but about the person I am trying to help. When I volunteered, I assisted
