Socratic Seminar Report
I thought the seminar was very interesting I was able to reach my goal by asking meaningful questions at the same time there was a lot of idea i wasn’t able to share with the group due the limited amount of time we had. I also learned a lot from others so i was almost able to picture myself in the shoes of a jew who was barely struggling to live and their life. Although i wasn't able to express some of my ideas i was very satisfied when i was able to learn from ideas from others had to share.
Overall I thought I had contributed to the Socratic Seminar, I was capable of asking meaningful questions and add interesting ideas to the conversation. I thought I provided good information my group like the many examples i had pulled from The Book

The Socratic Seminar that took place on November 13 revolved around the idea of three different topics from different essays. The first essay, “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie, talks about the author’s personal experience as an Indian boy who taught himself to read. The next essay, “Consider the Lobster” by David Foster Wallace, revolves around Maine’s annual Lobster Festival and what a lobster is. The final essay, “Making Toast” by Roger Rosenblatt, is about a grandfather losing his daughter and how their family works through it. While reading and annotating the essays, I had no clue as to what the connection was between the three articles. Kevin had mentioned the loss of connection between the articles during the Socratic Seminar, as he…

The Socratic Seminar was an educational and enlightening experience. Before the day of the seminar I was a bit apprehensive and was not sure whether the class, or I for that matter, would participate much or learn much. After the class I felt great about the experience and learned a lot, it was good to have a conversation with my fellow classmates about the story in a relaxed atmosphere. I was confused on several aspects of the story and wanted to discuss several topics such as Dexter’s motives during his attempted journey into Judy’s heart. Overall I felt that the Socratic Seminar was a great experience and I learned more about the story than I initially had by simply reading it.…

What are the things that I enjoy most about the scholastic shooting program? First, enjoy all of the friends that I have made. I have made so many friends through this program. Next, I have gained responsibility. There’s a lot of responsibility in the scholastic shooting program such as, making sure you have your equipment cleaned and there, being ready to shoot, have your coaches able to trust you so they can focus on the shooter not you. Also, I love to shoot. I get to shoot and be competitive every week. Finally, I have improved on my accuracy. I know how I was when I first started I wasn't all the accurate but now I can see how much more accurate I am now compared to then. Since I'm more accurate now I'm faster. I also do other activities…

The feedback I got back from my peers was the same throughout the workshop. What my peers told me was that I needed to be more detailed, because I did not reach the limit of three pages. They also told me to make sure that I not only talk about one concept but that I also talk about the other author. They told me to make sure that I even out the arguments, meaning that I give enough information on both concepts. I learned from my essay that I need to develop my writing techniques more, and learn how to out my thoughts out on my paper.…

    David Kotter Analysis

I found the symposium very interesting. I thought that David Kotter made a very good point. He told us first that the battle is coming to us and that we should not be surprised when we deal with the issue of religious freedom, for in 1 Peter, it says to not be surprised WHEN we are faced with trails. The word “when” implies that it will happen, it’s just a matter of time. If he had said “if” then maybe there would or wouldn’t be trials. So we know by this wording that as a Christian and a follower of Christ, we will face trials. He also told us not to be afraid of it and to be wise but innocent. I believe that a big part in being not afraid and being wise is being educated on these topics and that is why this issue was an important one for…
