There are many cases of police brutality everyday. I was surprised how prevalent it was in the United States. I would expect it to be a lot less than it is. However, growing up in such a small town and thinking of my community as one big family, I just assume that everyone treats one another equally. Which in fact, is not true at all. Studying this issue has taught me how hopeless you would feel if you get punished wrongfully by a police officer. Nobody can help you since the people whose job it is to protect are are actually abusing you. Studying different branches taught me how one person can create a large foundation fighting for what he/she believes in and changing the entire country. Studying this topic also taught me a lot about being a leader today. It’s taught me that one person can make a change. You just need to put some effort into your beliefs and you can change a lot about this world. I’m irritated at the fact that even though there are many foundations and individuals in this world that want to stop police brutality (and they are doing there best to make a change), the only people that can actually end this epidemic is our U.S government. If we stop criminalizing everything, stop using poor people to fatten city budgets, make policy makers face their own racism, actually ban racist policing, obey the fourth amendment, make the police wear body cameras, don’t let friends of the police prosecute the police, and ban military equipment then it would solve many issues in our country. Ultimately, I want EVERYONE to be treated
