SOUTH YORKSHIRE NEWSPAPERS PLC

INTRODUCTION

South Yorkshire Newspapers plc produces local evening newspapers for the South Yorkshire area. Each editorial centre produces and distributes a nightly newspaper Monday to Saturday and the Sheffield centre produces an additional sports newspaper on Saturday evening.

The group was formed in 1954 by the merger of several individual local newspapers, some of which have since ceased to exist. The major editorial centres are now Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley. Although the Sheffield sales region does extend into Chesterfield.

In the UK newspapers are produced for morning and evening consumption. In the immediate post-war period there was a high level of demand for newsprint, this has been subsequently affected by the increase in popularity of other mediums, such as television. The major effect has been an overall reduction in the quantity of demand for newsprint. The consumer taste has also changed demanding higher overall quality, quicker reporting speed and accuracy and a wider range of non-news topics.

The market for morning newspapers has in overall terms declined because of the pressures of other news mediums eg Breakfast TV. The only newspapers to survive these changes have been the ones having a national or major geographic distribution. Daily morning newspapers whose circulation was primarily localised have over the post-war period been systematically withdrawn from the market.

This letter will mainly be addressing those who have investments in the organization as well as other stakeholders that are involved with the organization. The information in the letter would mainly consider information that has changed such as the industry changes, information regarding their investments and their portfolios and the time and location of the meeting as well as the date. It's critical though to not point out that anything has changed significantly or to make the stakeholders or investors scared/frightened that something has negatively happened. The information should be restricted to the bare basics and shouldn't include much about the topic of the meeting apart from what is going to be talked about, where the meeting is as well as time and date.…

On July 4, 1845, he began his famous experiment in what he thought of as “essential” living—living simply, studying the natural world, and seeking truth within himself. On land owned by Emerson near Concord, Massachusetts, Thoreau built a small cabin by Walden Pond and lived there for more than two years, writing and studying nature. Walden—a mixture of philosophy, autobiography, and meditation upon nature—is the record of Thoreau’s experiences at the pond.…

In the three passages written by Poe (The Masque of the Red Death, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Cask of Amontillado), their settings contribute to their mood and their tone. Poe chose the settings of his passages very wisely, always thinking about how they would affect the story and what role they would play in the reader's understanding of the mood and/or the tone that he is trying to get across. The settings in these passages are different, but they are also somewhat alike, so the mood and the tone of the three passages (The Masque of the Red Death, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Cask of Amontillado) have similar aspects, however they also have different ones simultaneously.…
