Throughout the movie there were many cultural differences and different ways that were shown how people lived. Flore went through hardship when she became the maid and everything for John Clasky, and his insecure wife Deborah. Flore had to learn English and overcome the difficulties with Spanish and English. While living in the United States Flore learned the basic language that people usually spoke. Flore was helped by Christina her daughter, to speak and to translate for her. The struggle that Flore went through was really weird. There wasn’t that much of a discrimination towards her because the family needed her help with the things. The cultural difference was the fact that she had to learn what the basic citizen of the United States had to learn. This was really hard for her because many citizens in the U.S don’t just speak English. The same situation that it was for Flore happens to a lot of other people that come to the U.S. There are many different languages throughout the world and if someone comes to the U.S and doesn’t know English it is really hard for them to not get judged. Just like in our debate I believe that people should learn the most common language of the country you decide to live in because it will be easier to live your life there. But if everyone wasn’t judgmental and would be peaceful in life there wouldn’t be any problems between anyone. Similar to the movie Crash, as the arab man did not speak English and his daughter was his translator is just like this movie.
