“Saving Our Environment”

Environment is our surrounding which includes everything from a non-living to a living being. We all are aware about the importance of saving the environment. It is the responsibility of every person in checking the causes that affect the environmental disaster and play a positive role in improving it and these things have also got to be mentioned. We must realize the importance of a healthy environment and that it is for our own benefit to protect it and to take measures to make the world clean and green because as the proverb says "We won't have a society if we destroy the environment". There are some ways to save our nature, such as : we have to use compact fluorescent light bulbs, we must plant the trees, we have to turn off our devices and we have to avoid using your personal vehicles as much as possible.
We have to use fluorescent light bulbs. We should change our normal bulbs to them. they will definetely reduce our electric bill plus, they also give off 70 percent less heat than normal bulbs. It is true that these bulbs are more expensive, but they last much longer and they can save energy and in the long term our electricity bill would be reduced.
In addition, we must plant the tress. If we have a backyard or a small space of land in front of our house, start planting a tree. Plants are the only source that absorb carbon dioxide for photosynthesis and release oxygen. It is estimated that a single tree can absorb approximately one ton of carbon dioxide during its lifetime. If we don’t have enough space, keep small plant tubs in your doorway, balcony, and windows.

Not only that, but also we must turn off our devices when they are not needed. When we do not use a house device, turn it off. For example, if we don't watch TV, turn it off. Turn off the light when we leave a room and so on. Encourage others to do the same and teach our kids this habit too. Even if we don’t care much about the environment, this

The environment offers essential resources, like nutrients that are recycled to keep soil fertile, biological services, such as providing the global pollination of crops that we depend on for food, and natural improvements for our quality of life, such as controlling the chemistry of the atmosphere. These resources are vital to the survival of the human race, and are often taken for granted. Humans are constantly using these products and amenities to assist in their lives and consequently creating wastes that are put back into their surroundings. All people have the potential to impact the environment, both positively and negatively, directly affecting their resources available to them and the quality of life for themselves and all people on…

Nonetheless, saving energy not only benefits the planet, but our ‘pockets’ as well. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a simple task like replacing the light bulbs in your home can save up “75% energy of the 10% home energy costs.” Or simply unplugging electronics and appliances when not in use – a task made easier by using multiple-outlet strips, which can turn everything off with the flip of a switch – can save you money. For example, Leaving a computer on all day can cost about “21 cents per day, or about $75 per year” (U.S. Department of energy). Also, according to Goldemberg’s article “Energy for the New Millennium”, 78% of CO2 and 23% of methane is expelled from energy activities which are ultimately major contributors to indoor air pollution, urban air pollution, acidification and global…

Environment: we all refer to it through different definitions. Some call their vicinity and the air just around them their environment, while others call the atmosphere of their country the environment. In fact, our environment is everything that is around us: the living and non-living things together. With a lot of unnatural factors happening around us in terms of human intervention with the environment, our natural environment is depleting day by day. The natural resources such as water, land, air, etc. are getting affected by these activities from humans that are going on at a fast pace.…

We have also replaced a large number of our incandescent lightbulbs with fluorescent bulbs. The cost of these bulbs has come down to the point where they are now very cost effective and they consume much less energy. They screw into your light fixtures like a traditional bulb and last up to 13 times as long. The bulbs you can buy today are much higher quality than in the past with less flicker and with a warmer light. Because an incandescent bulb wastes as much as 90% of its energy as heat, the power consumption of the cooler-running fluorescent bulbs is much less. According to the Georgia Interfaith Power & Light company, "Each 13-watt compact fluorescent (CFL), over the expected 10,000 hour life of the bulbs, will save 470 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity as compared to 60-watt incandescent bulbs. This translates to a global warming-fighting reduction of over 730 pounds of carbon dioxide. It also means a reduction of 1.6 pounds of nitrogen…

There are many problems facing the world today; serious problems that could have grave consequences if not resolved within the next few years. However, there is one looming problem, which if not resolved, could make all other problems obsolete; the way that we take care of the environment, or rather the way we neglect it. The environment is a necessity for everyday life. Without the environment, we would die. How we chose to end global warming is interesting, because much of our daily uses affect the environment.…

    1. CHANGE YOUR LIGHT If every household in the United State replaced one regular light bulb with one of those new compact fluorescent bulbs, the pollution reduction would be equivalent to removing one million cars from the road. Don't like the color of light? Use these bulbs for closets, laundry rooms and other places where it won't irk you as much. 2. TURN OFF COMPUTERS AT NIGHT By turning off your computer instead of leaving it in sleep mode, you can save 40 watthours per day. That adds up to 4 cents a day, or $14 per year. If you don't want to wait for your computer to start up, set it to turn on automatically a few minutes before you get to work. 3. DON'T RINSE Skip rinsing dishes before using your dishwasher and save up to 20 gallons of water each load. Plus, you're saving time and the energy used to heat the additional water. 4. DO NOT PRE-HEAT THE OVEN Unless you are making bread or pastries of some sort, don't pre-heat the oven. Just turn it on when you put the dish in. Also, when checking on your food, look through the oven window instead of opening the door. 5. RECYCLE GLASS Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose. 6. DIAPER WITH A CONSCIENCE By the time a child is toilet trained, a parent will change between 5,000 and 8,000 diapers, adding up to approximately 3.5 million tons of waste in U.S. landfills each year. Whether you choose cloth or a more environmentally-friendly disposable, you're making a choice that has a much gentler impact on our planet. 7. HANG DRY Get a clothesline or rack to dry your clothes by the air. Your wardrobe will maintain color and fit, and you'll save money. Your favorite t-shirt will last longer too. 8. GO VEGETARIAN ONCE A WEEK One less meat-based meal a week helps the planet and your diet. For example: It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. You…

So what appliances waste the most energy? Studies have shown that heating and cooling facilities in homes are definitely the highest energy users. With the highest annual average household producing about four tons of heat-trapping pollution, the usage of this appliance heavily relies on the weather. Colder years lead to an increase in emission, while warmer seasons helped dip a bit. However at the same time hot summers increase fossil fuels pollution too because of an excess use of air conditioning. All year around, many people still set their air conditioners at too low of a temperature and sleep with thick covers. The solution is simple; reduce the amount of…

One of the least expensive and most effective changes you can make in your home is replacing your light bulbs. According to Energy Star, one of its qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL), which cost just a few dollars, “will save about $30 over its lifetime and pay for itself in about 6 months. It uses 75 percent less energy and lasts about 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb.” Although some people are concerned because CFLs contain mercury, Energy Star says that CFLs do not release any mercury when in use, and actually reduce mercury emissions because they lessen the need for electricity from power plants that emit mercury. Learn more at Energy Star’s CFLs and Mercury page. For more energy-efficient lighting, see Bright…
