Speech Outline on Blue Whales
We Are Living with Giants
Introduction:
If you ever saw Jurassic Park you know how big dinosaurs could be. As a kid I used to love dinosaurs. For a while I wished that the movie was real. I just wanted to see how majestic it would be to see the biggest creatures that ever lived. But then I found out that Dinosaurs are not the biggest creatures to roam this earth. I found out that the biggest creatures to live on this planet are still alive and that I actually did see one. I found out that the Blue Whale that I saw when I was kid on the beaches of Vizag was actually one of the biggest animal ever lived. I can’t explain how proud I felt.
Body
I. Let me tell you some facts about Blue Whales. A. The blue whale is the largest animal that ever lived on Earth. 1. It is also the loudest animal on Earth.

B. Blue whales grow to be about 30 meters long.

C. They weigh about 180 tons. 1. They are almost as heavy as 40 African elephants.

D. It’s pretty crazy that the blue whales heart is as big as a small car. 1. They are almost as big as a Volkswagen Beetle Bug.

E. Its arteries are big enough that a child could crawl through them.

F. And its tongue weighs as much as an elephant.

Transition 1: I have told you a few things about the blue whale tried to put their size into perspective. Now I will tell you about their growth. II. How did they get so big? A. Even though the whale has a huge body in comparison to other mammals its esophagus is so small that it could choke on anything bigger than a loaf of bread.

B. So their diet is mostly based on small shrimp like creatures called krill.

C. It’s fascinating to see that there enormous size comes from things the size of a human pinky.

D. It’s estimated that blue whales eat up-to 4 tons of krill per day in order to keep up with its huge metabolism.

E. Blue whales use a technique called lunge feeding to eat. 1. Lunge feeding requires
