The blue whales are measured to be as long as a jet, its living heart to be scaled to the about the same size of a car, and whose tongue weighs on average of 2.7 tonnes about the same weight of an elephant. Researchers have made a scientific breakthrough of how these creatures have grown to be this size. About 2.5 million years ago scientist believe based on their data a group of whales, the Baleen whales were 6- 10 feet. Scientists say their growth is caused because of the changes in their diet. According to Graham Slater, a biologist that these whales have only been recorded as giant creatures fro almost 3.6 million years but they have been alive longer for 10 times that. Scientists studied lengths and sizes of 63 Baleen whales and took measurements of their skulls and 13 other living species. They recorded the data of the lengths with computer models and they examined their family tree altogether. Scientists found behind this that their size grew independently among branches of the family tree and also the smallest and largest whales …show more content…
Though, others are convinced to believe there are one or more factors that play a role in this part. Some factors they suggested was evolution and climate change, but from the latest research, the whales will face uncertainty in the nearby future. The modern ecosystems are always changing and scientists fear the ocean circulation of currents will likely change with it. The circulation that corners in the whale’s food could change and be spread out in the ocean finding it hard to find the food they normally rely on in a specific place. Graham Slater data support if the climate changes in the route it's going to, then it will shut down the cold water supply and create threats to the whale's

Killer Whale, largest member of the dolphin family. Killer whales occur in more parts of the world than probably any other cetacean (see Whale). They occur in all oceans, both in the open ocean and close to shore, but are more common in the colder, more productive waters of both hemispheres than in the Tropics. Resident populations may cover an area of several hundred square kilometers. Transient populations often move through an area rapidly, swimming more than 1000 km (more than 600 mi) along a shoreline in a matter of days. Killer whales are black or deep brown overall, with striking white patches above the eye and from the lower jaw to the belly, and a fainter grayish-white saddle patch just under and behind the dorsal fin. Males are somewhat…

Quite different from the fast pace life of a hummingbird, is that of the largest mammal in the world, a blue whale (274). “It weighs more than seven tons. It’s as big as a room” Doyle writes about the heart inside the largest mammal on Earth (274). With something as large as the blue whale, it takes a massive heart to power a mammal that 100ft. long, and because it is so massive, the heart beats slowly. Doyle explains that while there are 10,000 blue whales on Earth we know almost nothing about their social lives, their habitat or really anything about them for that matter. Although we know very little about blue whales, Doyle writes “But we know this, the animals with the largest hearts in the world generally travel in pairs” (274).…
