The intent of this research approach, for the purposed Peninsula YMCA Strategy Plan, is to ensure it is aligned with the organization's vision, mission, and people strategies and values statements. “The mission of the Y is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, according to its main website, (YMCA, 2014)." In order to assure that the Strategic Plan takes this into consideration, it must be built into the research approach.…
Since I was 7 years old, I have always participated in Greenwich’s very own Cardinal Baseball Camp. However, until last summer, I had always been one of the campers. This year I was an official volunteer of the camp. Everyday from 8 a.m. till 12 p.m., me and approximately 30 other staff members at the camp would teach young kids how to play baseball. This camp is run very locally, and it is very personalized, something that should truly be valued in a large town like Greenwich. Although not perfect, this is the best camp in town, and it will continue to stay that way as it continues to improve itself. The Greenwich Cardinal Baseball Camp is a very effective place for kids to go and not only learn the game of baseball, but meet new friends,…
City Sports Club is a gym located in behind the Stonestown Family YMCA. City Sports provides many features basketball, indoor pool, sauna, kids glib, group fitness classes, cycling, personal trainers, whirlpool spa, juice bar, and swim lessons. Many of these features can be found at the Y. City Sports starting rate to become a member is $34.99 a month plus an added $99 initiation fee. Although they have a large target market, it can be seen that there are more college students attending this gym than older adults. This gym is a large competitor for the Y because of location, features, and price. The Y is able to differentiate themselves by being more community and family…

We must continue to push our legislature to pass bills that will create new standards for school lunches. Providing healthier choices for children would be a step closer to President Obama’s goal of ending childhood hunger by 2015. These issues are also being pushed by First Lady Michelle Obama to reduce childhood obesity (Congress takes aim at unhealthy school lunches 2010). Our street festivals should include meals that are lower in fat and calories, invite vendors that promote health, and the activities should be those that get people to move, such as music and dancing and games for the kids. By providing safe parks and the sense of security for our citizens we promote health within our community. The members of the community must also take a stand for this city, churches, clubs, and neighborhoods need to ban together to encourage each other to be healthy, the community neighborhood watch program must once again be a vital part of keeping this community safe. The members of these groups need to get together and organize activities on a weekly basis that encourage activity; meetings should be walking meetings, rather than round table meetings with…

They will help and support the community to achieve those goals. Their purpose is to provide as many communities as possible a place that they can learn about healthy living and social responsibilities. This is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and contributors in order to operate. The community needs to get involve and each individual will teach others on how chose healthier way of living. This specific agency was selected because we wanted to point out the excellent job that the volunteers of this center do in order to help the community. The students are making sure that the selected population stays fit, healthy and taking care of. They are making a difference in the community by pushing each of these consumers to be able to keep their mobility and independence. They take the consumers to the YMCA to perform multiple activities. The location we chose was YMCA that is located in Hollywood, Florida. Their office hours are Monday-Friday 5:00 AM – 9:30 PM. At this facility they offer programs in Health and Fitness, Aquatics, Camping, Family, childcare, community development, sports, and teens. Since this is a nonprofit organization, Chamberlain College of Nursing supplies nursing students to Lucanus Disability Center in order to help with quality patient education to their consumers. The nurses’ role is to assess the individuals, teach them about better choices for them to improve in…
There are multiple ways that recent trends in the sport industry are affecting the YMCA. A majority of them would be revolving around the economy and how the YMCA is considered a luxury to the people. Others would be the increase of fitness in the world and sport curiosity and also the elderly still maintaining their healthy lifestyles. The increased popularity of celebrity athletes in the world are leading to an increased popularity in the sport world (Balmer, 2009). The battle against obesity is increasing the number of people who join a fitness club or health organization. Also, many people are beginning to try to find both healthier lifestyles and seeking a balance between work and leisure (Sports, 2007). Lastly, the way that kids are being taught is changing; practices are becoming known as best practices and the kids are learning more of the sport and becoming better (Stephens, 2009).…

RECR 2190 Introduction to Sport Management YMCA For Youth Development, For Healthy Living, For Social Responsibility Nathan Scruggs Introduction The YMCA was founded by George Williams, a London draper. Williams was the typical man who was drawn by the Industrial Revolution. Williams and his colleagues became concerned about the lack of healthy activities for the young men and men of the future in their respective cities while the only options available were taverns and brothels. Not long after, Williams began to conduct prayer meetings and Bible readings amongst his fellow peers and coworkers in the city of London, Paris.…

The great glory about American Democracy is that it was founded on civil disobedience. Democracy isn’t perfect, however, I believe Democracy is only able to flourish through a series of revelations from conflict. Peaceful civil disobedience is worthy for the reasons that; firstly it draws attention to the problem, secondly acts as the catalyst for change, and finally it fulfills the moral obligation that society failed to engage in.…
