"Famous athletes nowadays are more like entertainers than professionals. Usually they are not just dedicated to achieve sports goals. If an athlete can call the attention of the public, she/he would worth more for managers.

If the role of athletes in society wasn’t to entertain, there would be any millionaire athlete. Being the best athlete to me isn't being the highest paid player or even the greatest but the greatest athlete to me is being able to look your teammates in the eyes at the end of each and every game and have them know that you gave it your all and left everything on the field it also means for student athletes you have to be a role model not only on the field but also in the class room each and everyday that is what being a real athlete is someone who is willing to die to be the best thats why we have few athletes that stick out from the rest the ones that are willing to give it all to be the best take someone like Derrick Jeter the caption and shortstop of the new york yankees he is somebody to look up to and want to be the goals he set for himself his drive to be great and his passion and love for the sport somebody that doesn't care about what his pay check is and would play for free if it really came down to it now as he slowly starts to come to the end of what we call the "Jeter era" we can only tell our kids and grandkids about the man who just played for his city and put on that jersey everyday for the people and city who have always loved him as he has always showed it back. Being an athlete is always about getting paid but being a role model, a leader, and a warrior that is willing to go to battle with his brothers and do what ever it takes to win. Thats what being a really athlete is.

The players that are being watched normally haven't worked hard towards a good education. Some have been recruited right out of high school, while most got huge scholarships to play sports at prestigious schools. These schools will do almost anything to keep their best players in school. So they athletes can eventually make it to the professional level, with or without a degree. One might argue that some people get money for being good with their brains, why shouldn't people get money for being good with their bodies; on the other hand, since when have we paid someone $12 million to think and have fun? It's not all the athletes' fault though. Once the player becomes good, many different teams will seek him or her after. Soon after, the highest bidder will get he or she on his team. What is the difference between $80 million and $90 million? Players will even stop playing completely if they think that they aren't making enough money. So much for the idea of playing for fun. Sports have come a long way since basketball was played with milk crates and flat balls in the alleys of the poor and rich alike. One may ask, why should I be concerned with the senseless sweating and hours of practice of those who enjoy sports? The answer is one that will open your eyes to the fulfillment sports can bring whether recreational or competitive. Sport activities offer a variety of lifelong qualities and provide those who participate a sense of happiness like no other. Jennie Yabroff the author of “In Defense of Cheering”sheds light to her audience on why Cheering should be taken as seriously as any other sport. In contrast Felisa Rogers the author of “How I Learned to Love Football” tells a story of how she once despised the great American game of football to how she grew ecstatic about its very nature. Both women have admiration for their respective sports and want to encourage others to share their love of sports through their use of ethos and pathos, with pathos being more effective.…

The premiere athletes of today’s sports can make upwards of 30 millions dollars in one year. This alone can raise some eyebrows. Now take into account that this amount of money is 75 times as much money as the President of the United States made last year. The President, by their pay, is less important than an athlete, like a LeBron James, but this couldn’t be any further from the truth. Compared to an actual beneficial job, like teaching, the athletes we gladly shell out millions of dollars for are very overpaid.…
