Athletes in college may not make money from the games they play, but they don’t really need it either. They rarely have to pay tuition, they don’t pay for room and board, and they probably don’t pay for their food either. They have no need to make money off of their games because everything they need is already paid for. People say they deserve at least part of what they make, but the school uses it to better their school and facilities, so overall it’s being used for the players anyway.…

Although, most of the top college athletes from the top teams do receive full scholarships where they don’t have to pay for tuition or room and board. Spending money is not included in a scholarship which means an athlete’s parents have to support them even after high school. Being only a student would enable a lot of free hours extra where a student can get a part time job and pay for their tuition as well as spending…

First, a fan spoke up and argued, “Athletes work hard to get where they are. They deserve their fair share.” This quote shows that Athletes may work for it, but no one is worth millions for playing a sport. Next, LeBron last year averaged 25.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game during the regular season, and also led Cleveland to the championship to win it. This shows that LeBron plays so well on the court, however, his job is to shoot the ball and hope for the best.…

I believe that athletes do not deserve a large salary and endorsement. The reason being is that many professionals who risk their lives to save others receive a 100th of an athlete’s salary and endorsement. In contrast, a nurse in Toronto makes an average salary of $70,000 a year; the President of the United States only receives a salary of $400,000 a year, while athletes make millions of dollars in 6 months. According to Sports Illustrated magazine Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees has a contract guaranteeing him $252 million over a ten-year term.…

Personally if I was playing in the big leagues I would love to make tens of millions of dollars myself. But I do not think they deserve such high compensation. Simply, for the fact that they do not do anything, that will help the community or save others. Although they do provide us with entertainment I feel the people that should be making tens of millions of dollars should be the people whom are saving others. The money given to the athletes could be used for more probable causes. This is enough money to feed the nation's poor for a year or to provide a lot more housing and shelters for the homeless. Others could benefit from the millions being wasted on these athletes. Many athletes raise and donate money to charity. The United Way has become one of the largest charities due to the publicity and donations given by these athletes. Many of these athletes are not frugal with their money. They help our economy by spending excessive amounts of money. The public needs to realize that without the sky-high spending, the economy would not function as well as it does now. In closing, these athletes are making too much money in a society that traditionally bases salaries on the value of ones work. These athletes do not know what real work is or how hard it is to make a dollar. Although their job is difficult, they do not play a role in our economy…

Right? Wrong. If you were to give me 100 thousand dollars worth of dog food, that’s not like giving me $100,000. Most athletes wouldn't pay 100 thousand dollars for school just as I wouldn't spend 100 thousand dollars on dog food. For many reasons, a college education is worth much less to college athletes than it is to normal students (Vaughn). Normal students prepare themselves for college in high school and work hard in college, in order to get a good job. Athletes, generally speaking, are extremely unprepared for the college course work expected of normal students. With the help of an army of tutors they can just try to stay eligible (Vaughn).…
