Sunita Kaur joined Spotify in May 2013 as the Director for Asia. Her responsibility is to drive the strategic direction for the company across the region and also supervising the expansion and the growth of Spotify’s in Asia countries to manage the region’s sales division. Before this, Sunita work as the rAPAC Director of Advertising for Facebook for 3. Sunita has for more than 17 years’ experience in the industry, including print stints at Time Warner and Singapore Press Holdings, Sunita was Associate Director, Singapore and International Accounts at Microsoft Advertising before moving to Facebook as Director (The Star Online, 2013). Having a situational leadership would enable the leader to create a more productive team because the leader could lead and communicate to maintain any acute awareness. And by the good communication between the leader and workers, for she they can effectively handle the behavior change and business results. The situational leadership much shown in the launching of typically paid service by using credit card into the Philippines (Chris Sheedy, 2015). Philippines is a nation that credit card penetration is rarely used by the citizen, and they had face a huge problem in implementing the service into the country. Sunita’s confidence had leads the team toward the successful in the new system in Philippine. She believes that each of the markets had their unique challenges and different strategies need to be used in every different challenge. Thus, finding the right strategies for every different challenge are the main thing she should do. So, how did she settle the credit card issue in the Philippines? She found out that through the power of partnership because she realised that sometimes it is impossible to settle a problem by your own power. She started to search for different payment gateways and she found out that the telco partnerships are the one that they have been looking for (Chris Sheedy, 2015). With this collaboration, the users can pay their subscription through the telco bill that they are commonly using and this had made the payment more convenient for them. This was a win-win situation because data is an important revenue stream for telcos.
