Irish would celebrate by drinking beer, and dying things green. When you find something that has been died green it means that the leprechaun is near you.
The Irish are strong believers in luck.
When St. Patrick’s Day comes around the eat corned beef and cabbage. This is a tradition that they eat because they believe it will bring good luck. They drink beer because if you ever see a leprechaun you will see that he is holding a pint
of beer. Now a-day you will see people dressing up as leprechauns to portray the character of St. Patrick.
The rainbow is also another portrayal of St. Patrick’s Day. They said that at the end of the rainbow you would find a pot of gold with a leprechaun at the end of it. The rainbow is a myth because there is no end to a rainbow. They say that the pot would be filled up to the top with gold coins or just gold. St. Patrick’s Day is a day of celebrating luck of the Irish.
Another tradition of St. Patrick’s Day is if you don’t wear green you get pinched. The Americans came up with the theory of pinching people because we thought that wearing green would make you invisible to fairies and Leprechaun’s. Americans made this a tradition so if you didn’t wear green you would be pinched. They wanted to be able to blend in so that they could capture the leprechaun.
