Introduction
This research is concerned with x-radiation protection for the pediatric staff nurses while they are taken care for pediatric patient in Salmaniya Medical Complex wards and as well as in radiology department. The authors are trying to learn how the staff is exposed x-radiation exposure, what the risks are and what are the best methods to protect themselves from x-radiation hazard?
Staff nurses are frequently involved directly in many medical imaging procedures, as well as in patient care during the examinations and before the radiologic examinations.
"Staff nurse they are involving in indirect way such as when they are taken care for inpatient after having nuclear medicine examinations, this patient is emitting the dose to surrounding person so the nurse have to know how to protect their self in professional way. Know a day's some of international accredited hospital has to run regular radiation protection courses for staff nurses who are working in their hospital" (The University of New South Wales 2009).
The role pediatric staff nurse as part of their work they are taken care for pediatric patient while they are in wards. Some children have portable x-ray examinations in wards and staff nurse they need to stand with them while the examinations are performed. They are also need to escorting the child if they have any radiologic examinations or sometime they need to hold the child while the x-ray images are taken for the child. As it have been explain the pediatric staff nurse are getting some of x-radiation exposure while they are taken care for inpatient. Radiation's effects on human body can range from nausea to death: Exposure to radiation can have a dramatic and immediate effect on the human body.
