Star Wars: A New Hope
The movie saga “Star Wars” seems to be known by many as the movie that “created” tThe sScience fFiction film genre and is claimed to be unique, but there are many similarities between the seven main films. During your time in the class, “History on Film B” you will watch eventful movies based on different genres that define that genre and their time period. My class had the genre of “Science Fiction” and we watched two Star Wars movies, one of them being “Star Wars: A New Hope” which came out before the newest one, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” In the movie, “A New Hope” a evil power called the Siths rise to power and plan to take over the galaxy unless one person, the newest and soon to be most powerful Jedi, Luke Skywalker defeats them. Also, the movie “The Force Awakens” has a similar plot where an evil force called “The First Order” rises to power and a new Jedi named Rey must stop them. …show more content…
For example, there is a scene in “A New Hope” where Rebel forces are trying to destroy a ship called the “Deathstar” which is owned by the Siths and is set to destroy the Rebel base. The only way to destroy the Deathstar is to shoot and destroy its power source. Similarly, there is a scene in “The Force Awakens” where the Rebel Alliance once again needs to destroy a machine called the “Starkiller” which is again set to destroy a Rebel base and the only to destroy it is to destroy the power source. Not only this, but the plot twists are also similar. In the movie, “A New Hope” there is a Jedi named Obi-Wan Kenobi, Obi-Wan is a very important character who guides Luke to fight the Siths, Obi-Wan eventually gets killed by the Siths while fighting them. On the other hand, there is a very important character in “The Force Awakens” named Han Solo who guides the newest Jedi, Rey, to fight the First Order and while doing this, gets killed by the First

In New Hope Luke begins his Jedi training, they rescue Princess Leia from the empire, and Luke destroys the death star. In Empire Strikes, the rebels get defeated on Hoth, Luke trains under Yoda, and finally fights Darth Vader who turns out to be his father. And finally in Return of the Jedi, second death star is built, there’s a giant battle, Empire is defeated. In each star wars movie, starting with New Hope and ending with Return of the Jedi, it has that beginning middle and end. With all three movies in order they make that larger beginning, middle, and end that is needed for a trilogy to really come together. If a movie were to take three hours just talking the setting and the characters and then another movie would make up the middle and then a different movie would make up the end it wouldn’t be a trilogy. It’d be a so weird collection of movies that would be very boring To be a trilogy you have to have that three act structure. And together the star wars movies make a trilogy that is memorable and famous, that is talked about for years to…

The film franchise of Star Wars has had an incalculable impact on society and culture. It's paved the way for modern movie trilogies (such as "Lord of the Rings", "The Matrix", et al.), embedded itself into popular culture, and changed the genre of science fiction. The main reason Star Wars is such a pertinent film franchise is due to its omnipresence. In 15 years, Americans will watch the Star Wars saga in narrative sequence (episodes I-VII and onward) because of how prevalent the storyline is in America's society.…

(Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times). Many have sat through and watched The Last Airbender, directed by Shyamalan, while others have ravished over Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Nickelodeon cartoon. Both of these have the same concept and story line, but yet still vary completely. Shyamalan altered the setting, plot structure, added and deleted ideas and details from the cartoon, as well as portrayed the characters differently from the original episodes.…

The opening crawl famously appear in every Star Wars movie with the Opening Theme accompanying the text. Star Wars, which has made over thirty billion dollars, holds a Guinness World Records title for the "Most successful film merchandising franchise." With Star Wars being over thirty years old, a million dollar question can be is how Star Wars fans keep multiplying by the day. Fans are as dedicated, or even more in some cases, as when they first saw the movie in the seventies. There can be many factors of causing the uprise of fans. The science fiction film, Star Wars – The Phantom Menace is a film based on the movie series itself. The Phantom Menace is the first episode (movie) in the Star Wars trilogy. Some believe that it’s a vision of the future, using romance, action, and drama to illustrate Lucas’ future ideal design. Star Wars keeps the audience on their toes, leaving you anxious for what happens next. It was very exciting, and in some ways suspenseful. The way George Lucas structurally set up Star Wars makes it the iconic series it is. Using vivid graphics and including an amazing timeline/plot, The Phantom Menace has become one of my most honored movies. Throughout the movie it was clear that everyone’s favorite scene, even mine, had to be the last fight between Qui Gon and Darth Maul. Lucas has Master Qui Gon Jenn killed by the separatist Darth Maul. This totally put Anakin’s future of being a Jedi on the line. By having Master Qui Gon Jenn live, Anakin would not have gone to…
