I have worked with a variety of individuals, both in the community and in a hospital setting. These individuals have all had their own unique reasons for requiring a wide variety of interventions and support and I have endevoured at all times to develop a positive working relationship built on trust, understanding, honesty and respect. At times I have worked with individuals who have challenged my own values or beliefs, however I feel that I have been able to acknowledge this and have been able to work in a professional, non-judgemental manner.

An example of this was a client I worked with in the community. The individual had been receiving support in the community for several years. I was informed part of their support was to go to their house and go shopping for them. Over the next few weeks our relationship developed and I felt confident enough to ask why staff went shopping for them, as they themselves were physically able? The client answered that they felt panicked going to the shop and hated the busy road they would have to walk. Yet they were able to in an emergency go for an electricity top
