Since the establishment of the Paideia way of learning, some key ideals have endured. These ideals set the many Paideia schools across the country apart from the others in their ability to raise strong conversationalists, independent thinkers, and well rounded learners. In my 7 years as a Paideia student I have learned to engage in intellectual seminars, respect the position of others, and persevere through challenging subject and texts. The Paideia philosophy teaches valuable life skills like scholarship, service, leadership, and character and in doing so shapes students like myself around its ideals.
Before transferring to Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts (CSLA) I attended my public zone school. The transition from my big, less personal, and facile school to the challenging family-like atmosphere of a Paideia school was a difficult one. The scholarship aspect of the Paideia philosophy encourages learning at a higher level which I had not experienced previously. The rigorous yet rewarding nature of the curriculum helped me to reach my full academic potential and push myself as a learner to become a more attentive and hard working student. Each student and parent are required to complete hours of community service which helps connect families to the school community. I have developed my service skills by participating in camps which require working with children. Through my time volunteering I have not only helped others but I have learned important skills like patience and attentiveness which help me inside and outside of the
