Statue Of Liberty Research Papers
The Statue of Liberty is a unique and very detailed monument. The Statue of Liberty is located in New York. This statue is of a woman holding a torch, she has a tablet in her hand that has the date when the Declaration of Independence was signed. She also has chains on her feet and a crown on her head. This crown contains 7 spikes and has very detailed patterns and shapes. The whole statue is turquoise. This monument is 305 feet and 6 inches tall, it weighs 225 tons. This statue is one of the most recognizable monuments in the United States and is still very popular.
Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi played a big role in the history of the Statue of Liberty. Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi built the Statue of Liberty. France made the monument, but eventually they gave the monument to America. France gave the monument to America to celebrate their friendship they made in the American Revolution. France built the woman holding the torch and America built the platform for the statue. Fundraisers were held to pay for the platform that the woman would stand on. To build the statue of Liberty the total cost was 2,250,000 francs which is equivalent to $250,000 US dollars. Many people still visit this monument today. …show more content…
To help pay for the Statue of Liberty there is a fee on tickets, a fee to ride the ferry, and they also have a gift shop. There are probably many more ways that they pay for the Statue, but these three examples are just a few. Tickets vary in cost, depending on age and on where you want to go or what you want to do. Some areas of the monument are restricted for younger children like crown access and Ellis hospital tours. To have crown access you have to be at least four and to be able to tour the Ellis hospital you have to be at least thirteen. This statue is one of the most popular places for tourists to
