Attention Getter:
If i told you there was something in this world that held promise of treatments and cures for more than 70 major diseases and conditions that affect millions of people, including diabetes, Parkinson 's, Alzheimer 's, cancer, spinal cord injuries, blindness, and HIV, would you believe me?
According to an article by Americans for Cures Foundation, there is. And it’s name is a stem cell.
Into into topic:
There’s a lot of controversy surrounding stem cells, and because of that a lot of people fail to see the possible benefits. Although, stem cells have the potential to transform the entire medical field and change many lives.

I found in research from a book called “Stem Cells” by the Greenhaven Press, that these cells are found mostly in human embryos that are created for reproductive purposes through IVF (in vitro fertilization) more commonly know as artificial insemination. Transition Sentence:
Next I will be discussing how we may use stem cells to benefit our lives.
Stem cells are very important for living organisms for many reasons. In the 3-5 day old embryo state, called a blastocyst, the inner stem cells help to form many cell
types and organs such as heart, lungs, skin, sperm , eggs and other important tissues. In some cases in adult tissues, bone marrow, muscles, and brain tissue.
We can use this technology to regenerate tissues and other organs needed for human bodies that have been injured.
Stem cells are also capable of curing certain diseases such as cardiovascular disease. (aka heart disease)

Scientists instead receive “leftover” embryos from fertility.
In 2006 researchers made a breakthrough by identifying conditions that would allow some specialized adult cells to be “reprogrammed” genetically to assume a stem cell-like state. These are called induced pluripotent stem cells or iPSC’s.
Conclusion:
In all it is evident that stem cell research is indeed very complicated, and because of this a lot of people have a lot of different opinions about the research that goes along with it. I honestly think that stem cell research should not be taken lightly, it has the ability to further the medical field and take it to the next level. I do agree with the laws and limits that are currently placed on it, but I feel that we should continue with the research to get a better understanding of what we could do with it.
