Stephen Hawking: A Very Honorable Man
The definition of honor is high respect; esteem. I think honor is someone who shows high respect for others and respects themselves as well. Stephen Hawking is a very honorable man to me because of all the ground-breaking work he’s done. He has achieved many awards over the years such as the Pius XI gold medal for science, Albert Einstein Medal, Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, and many more. He was even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama. Hawking went to Oxford University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in math and physics and then earned his master’s degree and PhD at Cambridge University.

On the one hand, a business built on the honor system depends on its customers. It is obvious, that people who are rich don’t need to steal or cheat in their everyday life. At least, they don’t do that in small amount of cash. They have everything that the most others only dream about, so rich people will not risk their reputation of being honest people. On the other hand, people who live in rich districts generally are well educated. We can’t say that rich and educated people are always honest, but in general, they have good sense of moral obligations. Therefore, any business built on the honor system is likely to be successful locating near the neat clean hundreds of thousands of dollars mansions, rather than near government apartment buildings, where mostly drug-addicts and homeless persons…

The personal values that help contribute to my worldview and philosophy of nursing that is most important, is my religion. I am a Christian and this means that I am to be Christ like in my every day life and work. I am taught to treat others as I would want to be treated and care for them as I would do for myself. I am to help the sick, wounded, poor and widowed. Nursing in its roots are very much the same thing. Helping the ones who are unable to help themself. The underlying rule for nurses is to do no harm. My spiritual vales shape who I am, what I am and what I do. If I do all things as if I were doing them to the glory of God, then I know all things would turn out right. When obeying God and his commands, my spiritual values teach me that all things work to the good of God and according to his purpose.…

A guy is storming down the sidewalk in New York City, while rushing he dropped his wallet. The man behind him picks it up and glances inside and noticed it was packed full of money;however, he proceeded to chase the owner down and return it. That is an example of someone showing honor. In order to be a person of honor someone has to be able to put themself and their own needs aside to do whats right for another. Someone in my life who greatly deserves an honorable title is my neighbor, Cody White. Someone who does not show honor is Brutus, a character from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, because he acted upon what he felt was right for himself. Then in addition to that he believed it was for the good of his country. Honor is not something…

Honor can be defined many ways and can’t be given one definition. In an article written by a journalist from New York The Sun, Shalin Punn about James Bowman and his book Honor: A History, he states about honor “the concept of honor has been subject to a "change in meaning," up to a point where the word has undergone a "virtual disappearance from the working vocabularies of English and other European languages” (Bowman). First he says that honor has changed so much that it can’t be defined.…
