When we look into a class room, we can usually classify each student into one of the following categories: preps, jocks, rebels, Gothics, and nerds. We easily classify people into these groups because of their characteristics. Some people might dress or look a certain way. Others may wear designer clothes while others are still wearing last year addition outfits. What about nerds? A nerd is a descriptive term, often used pejoratively, indication that a person is overly intellectual, obsessive, or lacking social skills. Nerds have major features that catch the eye of others. So what do nerds wear? Some of the most typical costume attire choices were larger rimmed glasses with the nose piece tapped in white tape, plaid pants that where too short at the bottom reinforced by colorful suspenders, and back packs tighten all the way so it sat on the shoulders of the back. Other attire accessories where button up shirts buttoned all the way up, bow ties, males gelled their hair in a comb over fashion, and also with every great nerd costume a stack of books. Nerds today do not get the joy of plaid pants and suspenders because of uniforms but you can still see nerds walking down the hall way with their back packs high, books in hand, and their glasses perched ready to read. Nerds have many characteristics that an outsider can quickly stereotype them into the nerd category such as their intelligence, their social awkwardness, and their dress attire.
