Stolen Dance Analysis

Milky Chance is a sensational musical artist. Throughout his song, “Stolen Dance”, he uses depressing yet very upbeat music. Stanza two, three, five, six, seven, and eight are all upbeat. While stanza one and four are both sad. Analyzing the depressing parts first is more efficient in order to understand the rest of the song. In stanza one Chance talks all depressing about how he needs the women he cares about. For example, when Chance says, “I want you by my side so that I never feel alone again”, states that he needs the love of his life in order not to feel alone. Also, when Chance says, “They’ve always been so kind”, he’s talking about her parents. The reason her parents fit into that scenario is because parents have the authority to keep
you from seeing someone if they think that person is a bad influence. But he hopes her mind wasn’t changed about how she feels about him because he really loves her. Since her feelings are too strong anyway than it won’t matter what her parents say. Stanza four talks about how life isn’t fair, which is depressing. He’s all sad because she’s gone and the only thing he feels is pain. When he says, “Suspense is controlling my mind”, he is saying how he can’t wait much more for her to reunite with him. He can’t find a way out of his misery because there’s no escape from his despair. Chance states how the sun’s not shining anymore because it always seems cloudy to him without her next to him. Every winter is cold but this one is the coldest one for him because he lost the love of his life. What Chance is stating in stanza two, three, five, six, seven, and eight is that he misses her a lot and he wishes he could spend more time with her again. They don’t talk about it to each other because they just want to enjoy this moment. This part of the song is very crucial not only because it’s mentioned six times but because it states how much he truly loves her. When he says, “Dancin' on do the boogie all night long”, he is saying how he doesn’t want this happiness to ever end. Chance also says, “Stoned in paradise, shouldn’t talk about it.” When he says this he’s saying that he’s taking drugs with her to be happy. When people start to listen to the sad part first and then the happy parts later it creates a nice and final image in their mind than feeling bad for the person. Most people would rather hear the bad news first and then the good news because that’s the last thing they hear so it’s the last thing they remember. For example, at the beginning of this song Milky sounds all sad but then at the end of the song he’s all enthusiastic. Chance shows people how it is better to be happy than sad in his song. Not only is that important, but it’s the reason the stanzas are put in that order. It’s always better to know the bad news first in any situation that way you can look forward to the good news later on in life.
