Strength Of The NICE Strategy For Type 2 Diabetes
A strength of the NICE strategy is that it provides education to people with type 2 diabetes. The NICE strategy provides education in the form of guidelines that are regularly updated to suit changing rates of type 2 diabetes conditions and complications. This is a strength of the strategy as providing education provides knowledge on the ways people can delay themselves from developing type 2 diabetes and control measures to avoid complications, if the person has already developed type 2 diabetes. Educating people will encourage their right of taking informed decisions on their condition. If people are educated on how to protect themselves from developing type 2 diabetes or how to stop complication then they can take informed decisions on their treatment and lifestyle choices that affect their condition positively as they have the information to actually make a change. This leads to ignorance of the strategy leading to unpopularity. The NICE strategy enforces on education of healthy and unhealthy behaviours which leads to the development of type 2 diabetes. The NICE strategy informs people about how changing behaviour towards lifestyle factors can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and help controlling it. However, this leads to a problem of ignorance by the public as people do not like to be told what to do. As people do not like to be told what to do, they might not follow the strategy and this leads to a weakness of the NICE strategy as it might just not work in reducing the rates of people developing type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, the NICE strategy will be unsuccessful in meeting its aim of decreasing the numbers of people developing type 2 diabetes as people might have ignored the strategy because it tells people to behave in a certain way.
