11th WEEK: WORK-RELATED STRESS
(Reflection)
As I read through the 11th week handouts, I remembered the lessons I've learned on a Stress Management Seminar I have attended a year ago with the same topic. Aside from that, this also enables me to reflect on my own self, on how I manage every stresses that happens to me, what are the stressors that I commonly encounter, what type of personality I possess in terms of handling stress, how I can manage the stress properly, and many more. Here are some of the realizations that I made.
My understanding about what the stress is changes in some way as I read the handouts. I thought that stress is just some kind of force that pushes you to do a particular thing that can result you to be mentally, physically, and emotionally fatigued. But the truth is stress is not just like that, it can also have a positive effect to you in such a way that it gives you an additional motivation to do better. This is called eustress, the first one is called distress.
Just like what I have said earlier, this lesson made me reflect myself on what type of stress personality I possess. I found out that I possess the Type A personality based on the definitions given to this. I tend to do many things at the same time, I walk fast, and I am really a competitive and sometimes impatient. But aside of possessing the Type A personality, I am also an optimist in some way. I always think positive in every circumstances and I tend to make the negative thing a positive.
The common stressors that I face are taking the exams (especially when I didn't review any lesson we have tackled), expressing and introducing myself on a newly-met person, financial problems, obligations and responsibilities I have in the school especially on the student organization I am handling, and etc. Facing with these stressors is really hard for me but I still tend to
