name teacher class date Stress will kill a person! Yes it can actually kill a person, and although it may seem hard to believe it is true. Stress is a very serious situation in today’s ever changing society. As jobs get harder people work harder and with harder work people get stressed. This stress harms a person in many ways, mainly our health, and that can be very dangerous. Health is effected by stress in three different ways, mental, physical, and spiritual. One of the most serious health issues that come from the effects of stress is a person’s mental health. Stress can cause many changes to the body and can cause other problems. For instance it can cause depression and irritability. It causes a person to have anxiety which is an uneasiness of mind usually over what is to come. The thought of tomorrow’s troubles would terrify that person. Being irritable is another way stress can effect a person mentally. Being irritable or angry will cause tension between a person and other people. This can drive those people away and at that point the person who is stressed may direct that anger at themselves. This can cause a person to develop self-destructive traits that can lead them to cause themselves harm. Much like how stress effects mental health it also harms a person physically. Stress has a lot of effect on the tension on the muscles. Stress can also effect the body by causing fatigue. What stress does to effect the body is that makes a person to lack the desire to do anything, especially when it comes to eating correctly or working out. With stress that is causing muscular tension the body becomes sore from the slightest physical work. With fatigue a person is constantly weary from physical labor. The definition of fatigue is actually the tendency of a material to break under repeated stress. The same thing happens to a person’s body under repeated stress, they simply break. People who are suffering through fatigue have the inability to gain the energy to do anything. This can cause a person to do nothing but lie around all day. That is what stress does to body. Finally, much more important mental and physical is the effect that stress has on a person’s spirituality. When a person is stressed they often feel distant. This can have an effect on a person causing them to feel as if they have no meaning in their life or even feel disconnected from God. This lack of spirituality is utterly tragic. To have a lack of spirituality is very bad. It causes us to have a lack of morals. The lack of meaning in one’s life is often what leads to effecting the mental and physical. To feel disconnected from God is the worst feeling in the world. To know and love God one day, and then to feel disconnected from God the next day can be devastating. For a Christian living with stress it is not uncommon for them to stop showing up to a church service or even a small group, altogether. What Christians living with stress must remember is that through Christ all things are possible. That key fact must never be forgotten, especially in the hearts and minds of Christians.
These three parts of health, mental, physical, and spiritual, are how stress effects our life the most. This stress harms a person in many ways, and that can be very dangerous. It harms us through anxiety, irritability, muscle tension, fatigue, a lack of spiritual meaning, and a feeling of disconnection from God. All of these things can result in very serious, possibly permanent harm to a person. Deal with stress before it has a chance to harm or even kill.
