No athletes in today’s sports are by any means dumb. Every athlete has to have a set amount of knowledge in order to perform well at gametime. For example, a baseball player needs to know all of the situations when he is baserunning. Is there one out? Two outs? Is there a runner behind him, or in front of him? A basketball player needs to know what type of defense they are running when they get to the opponent’s side of the court. Is the defense playing man? Are they in a 1-3-1? An athlete also needs to know all of the rules and procedures, so they don’t receive a penalty or a foul.

Most athletes take school almost as serious as sports. Since student athletes are successful in school, they have earned a better opportunity to get into the school that they have chosen. To get on the A honor roll, these students study in between practices. Studying all night, the students almost fell asleep sometimes. “Kody you need to wake up,” My dad hollered! The athletes that care about school and sports have multiple priorities.
Today's world doesn't appreciate the greatness of athletes. I believe the true definition of an athlete is a person who has above average skills at a specific sport or game.
