As a second year public health major, I have a desire to make a difference in my community through contributing to the protection and improvement of the health of students on the UC San Diego campus. The program provides me with an excellent opportunity to achieve this lifelong dream. Through educational development, interacting with health professionals, joining a community of other like-minded individuals that genuinely care about the health of UCSD students, and most importantly, through hands-on exposure in a real world setting, this program grants me an invaluable experience that will better prepare me to join the public health work force after completing my undergraduate degree.

Furthermore, one of the leading risk factors for contracting an STI is being within the age range of 15 to 24 years old, which encases the large majority of all undergraduate students in college.
