Student Involvement Memo
The purpose of this memo is to recommend more student involvement on campus. Students that are more involved in activities such as Student Government Association, Sororities, and Fraternities are likely to have stronger social and leadership skills. Undergraduates that live on campus tend to participate in activities and organizations offered at Tennessee State University. However, individuals that commute or take online classes do not get the full effect of student involvement. One way to accomplish this goal is by increasing advertising not only on campus, but by email.

As I am a dual-enrollment high school senior I do not participate in on-campus clubs and activities, so seeing how different groups are treated gives me an insight on what campus life will be like after I transfer to a four-year university. I do not plan on joining a sorority so this study will help in my understanding of what different types of fraternities and sororities stand for and represent. For example, in this study, it was found that black fraternities are more career oriented and concerned about racial issues while white fraternities are more concerned about “living the college life” by doing things such as partying and sleeping around. While this study may not hold true to every college and university campus it is very informative in providing information, especially to someone like me who has no previous knowledge of what actually happens on college…

It is understandable that there are good people in this world and there are bad people as well. The notion good versus evil is portraying every day in our society. Our police force plays as the good and the evil guys are the criminals. It may seem we live in a peace country with equal rights and equal opportunity but there still that population of people who have a different perspective in living with each other. Hate can be described as a negative emotion that a human feels for another person. Crimes are committed all the time in the America but it seems to me that hate crimes carry more weight in the eyes of society. People mostly commit crimes to better themselves like money interest, or personal gains. A hate crime is considered as a personal crime, a crime that is passionate. Victims of hate crimes vary in the indiscretions placed against them, whether it is from a simple slander to a vicious attack. When a person is committed against for a hate crime their penalty is far above other crimes because they were carried out in hate. I believe that the idea of creating a separate punishment for crimes of this nature is a must. Hate crime need to be address more and solve correctly.…

As I said in our earlier conversation I do feel that this situation of harassment and violence has been allowed to continue far to long also I feel anything other than removing Bailey from your school will be a waste of time. We all know she can not be escorted by security for the rest of the year nor do I think she wants that .I cannot watch as Bailey's self esteem ,confidence ,and mental well being is over looked and used as a bargaining tool. . Disciplinary action should have occurred the instant Bailey reported this violence ,for whatever the reason being that this harassment/ abuse was allowed to continue for over 2 months, is now an issue for someone else to sort out.I will do everything in my power to make sure that Bailey is safe and in a learning facility that does not just talk about teaching the students to follow the…

I would start off my introduction by saying, “Hi David! My name is Miss Gina. It is nice to meet you.” To validate the purpose of our meeting, I would tell David that I am a social worker and that my job is to help kids feel better when they are going through something that is hard or scary. To provide a handle, I would tell David, “I can help you with whatever you feel comfortable talking about. If you are not ready to talk about anything yet, that is okay too. We can take things slow and talk about things as you are ready. I will have to share with Ms. Gold and Mrs. Cantanze about what we talk about in our sessions, but I promise whatever you tell me, your mother will never find out. You can trust me David. These meetings are a safe…

Bridging the gap between the individual students at OSU and the Student Government Association, is one of the top priorities for this year’s elected officials; President Dillon Johnson and Vice President Ridge Howell. It is no secret that in the past years there has been a huge lack of communication between OSU students and SGA but with the creation and re-establishment of events and programs; President Dillon Johnson hopes to successfully bridge that gap during his time in office. One of the changes that international students can expect to see this year in an effort to bridge that gap is few adjustments to the Cowboy Cousin program; a program for international students which aids them with becoming more familiar with American culture by…

For many students, college can also be seen as a crucial time for developing relationships, engaging in community involvement, and expanding parameters of social experience (Mahmoud et al. 149). While motivation within the classroom is shown to be negatively affected by mental illness, the way a student engages with their campus surroundings and social groups is affected as well (Salzer 5). An academic article written by Jihan Saber Raga Mahmoud, et al. stated that students who were able to engage with extracurricular activities or some form of religion or organization had consistently experienced less issues with mental health problems than those who had not, implying that seeking out services on college campuses is an effective means in dealing…

In order to ensure that prospective first-generation college students are enrolling in institutions that best suit their needs, it is imperative that these students are able to have positive interactions with other students and faculty. With many first-generation college students placing less emphasis on working with others and engaging in social activities, it is crucial to identify how educators can get these students more involved in their communities (Nadelson et al., 2013). According to findings from Gibbons et al. (2006), it seems plausible that first-generation college students may not be as involved because of their perceptions and expectations going into college. For instance, with prospective first-generation college students…

For my EPD 397 project, please grant me permission to study the way in which credit has been awarded for the discovery of nuclear fission. Although Otto Hahn received the 1946 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery, several people assert that Lise Meitner and Fritz Strassman should have also received credit. In my research, I will attempt to discern how credit should have been bestowed.…

Throughout high school being involved was very rewarding and made high school that much more of a great experience. Entering college I look forward to continue being involved whether it's in student activities and clubs or attending games and showing school spirit. I feel my experience as part of the student council and a secretary of my class through out high school will help me pursue similar leadership roles while at Texas A & M. I feel Texas A & M has so much to offer and when it comes to being involved the university has something for everyone. The tradition helps the university to stand out from all the others and gives people a chance to be a part of something that has been around for so long. This type of experience is what I hope to have in college and I feel Texas A &…
