Cowboy Cousin Program: A Case Study

Bridging the gap between the individual students at OSU and the Student Government Association, is one of the top priorities for this year’s elected officials; President Dillon Johnson and Vice President Ridge Howell. It is no secret that in the past years there has been a huge lack of communication between OSU students and SGA but with the creation and re-establishment of events and programs; President Dillon Johnson hopes to successfully bridge that gap during his time in office. One of the changes that international students can expect to see this year in an effort to bridge that gap is few adjustments to the Cowboy Cousin program; a program for international students which aids them with becoming more familiar with American culture by
SGA is in the developmental stages of creating a faster, simpler online way for students to have community services projects readily available to them. “It is going to be a new community service platform called; OSU Engage and so how it is going to work is we have the Service Volunteer Center and they do a lot of great work but what we have seen as far as us as students is that there is not really an easy way for students to sign up for community service without it having to go sift through all the options in the SOVC or having to sign up for something recurring and commit to something for the whole semester, we wanted there to be an easier way for students, who wanted to get plugged in and do community service to do that,” Johnson said. “What the program is going to look like and it is still under works but it should be rolling out this semester, we will have a platform where different individual students or student groups can sign up to be a part of this program and they are put on an online platform, as community service needs become available the alerts will be sent to
