A9: Commonwealth Worldwide Chauffeured Transportation

1. What type of employees would you suggest Dawson Rutter add to his company next. Why?
Dawson Rutter’s future employees I do not believe that a degree is important. What is important for this business is the ability to deal and work with people. Rutter needs to get people that have a natural draw for others. Driving record should also be something he should pay attention. He should also look for people with degrees for the upper management levels to run the business.
2. Which of the three broad HRM activities would you invest in most heavily in order to begin building the human capital commonwealth needs? Discuss
I personally believe that “finding people” should be invested in the most. If he truly wants to expand his company the company he needs to find quality people that will be able to manage the drivers and other aspects of the company. The people are in control of having this business either succeed or fail.

3. Suggest at least one idea for training, one for performance evaluation and one for compensation that might be used to develop and maintain a committed corps of limo drivers.
I think that having a company-driving test would be something that can be beneficial to success and preparation of the company. This driving test can also be used for the performance evaluation for the drivers. For those in management levels there could be a competition between managers that could act as an evaluation of who can obtain the most clients. This competition could eventually lead to different compensation prizes which would keep the motivation

The apoplast is important for all the plant's interaction with its environment. The main carbon source (carbon dioxide) needs to be solubilized in the apoplast before it is taken up by chloroplasts and consumed during photosynthesis. In the roots, ions diffuse into the apoplast of the epidermis before being taken up into the symplast by specific ion channels and being pulled by the plant's transpiration stream, which also occurs completely within the boundaries of the apoplast. Similarly, all gaseous molecules emitted and received by plants such as plant hormones and other pheromones must pass the apoplast. The apoplast is also a site for cell-to-cell communication. During local oxidative stress, hydrogen peroxide and superoxide anion can diffuse through the apoplast and transport a warning signal to neighboring cells. In addition, a local alkalinization of the apoplast due to such a stress can travel within minutes…

Understanding how to build and lead teams successfully is an ever-changing and full time job. Matching people to different types of employment is very challenging when the reasons for employment are varied. Many organizations use a Myers-Briggs personality analysis or similar tool as a consideration in hiring and making job assignments that consider the strengths of an individual. Finding a job for more money, or location, or to live a certain lifestyle are three possible reasons why a person might pick a specific job. The missing reason should be the most obvious: Job! Many times people sign on to an organization specifically because of the job. Of course other factors might be considered but if the primary reason for employment is job-related, some personal factors need consideration by the employer and the employee. The premise of this case is that Jim Billings has a mandate by the Board of Directors through his selection as CEO to grow and develop Stone Finch Incorporated (SFI). He, after one night of number-crunching, developed this idea of innovative subsidiaries. The concept is sound in theory but in application, requires a deft managerial…

    1. I strongly believe that Charles Tollison is qualified for a partnership position as he puts in long hours worked year-round and solves the most difficult accounting/auditing issues. He is considered the “technician” of the company because of his abilities of micromanaging his jobs and being involved in every aspect of them. It shows that he cares for the company; but he needs to invest more time in getting more clients, contracts for the organization, rather than spending all of his time solving accounting/audit issues. These are matters that someone else can handle in order for him to qualify as a partner.…
