Stupid Alternate Ending
Stupid. How very stupid of her to think that she could indulge in this fantasy of actually living somewhat of a normal life. Looking up when Jonnie arrived, he gently took the puppy from under his arm and put him in his cage to her side. Duke whined softly but seemed to understand that there were other important things happening. When her fiance made her rise, she did so and found her feet and somehow carried her to to his study. He took it calmly - as any Don should have - and moved to close the door behind them. Silently placing her hands in front of her, she looked down until she heard the lock, her memory hoping to have not failed her. A hand at her back caused her to turn to him but he moved to actually sit on the desk, awkwardly moving …show more content…
"Here," she said softly and stilled herself, hoping that her memory would not fail her. "Um," she tried to remember where exactly she would have been before she realized the point of view that would have made the most sense. "Here, I think," she stopped him at camera three. And no doubt, with a little rewind, it showed from a birds eye view of his young soon to be wife happily taking out Duke and from the corner of their wooded area, someone had appeared and snapped the photo, foolishly not removing the flash. The shadow could be enhanced to reveal a man's face. Though blurry, he had a scar above his left brow and a beard. Lily leaned back slightly, a hand to her forehead. "I'm very foolish, I just didn't think this would happen so soon," she brushed some hair behind her ears and decided it was best to leave Johnathon so he would not have to deal with …show more content…
"Next time I won't be so frightened," she assured him, and moved over to the chair he was sitting at and lightly placed her hands upon his shoulders and pressed her lips to the side of his face, steadying herself. "If it's alright, I'd like to spend tonight alone. I just... have a lot on my mind. Goodnight," she whispered and took her leave. Closing the doors firmly behind her. Hurrying back to the guest bedroom first, she closed the doors and opened her phone. A message from her father.

You will report next Friday on your findings. The marriage is not real. Wake up.

Lily felt her hands trembling and she raised the phone as if to smash it, but instead, quickly deleted the message and tucked her phone in the drawer beside her guest bed. She couldn't even look at Johnathon right now. We really are pawns. How far will we go? And with that, she brushed her hair silently, closed the large window and slipped into bed with tears in her eyes from her father's cruel message that burned her dreams to a crisp.

From inside we could hear Phineas fall clumsily down the white marble stairs. Everyone stayed calm as we rushed outside to assist him. Finny said he couldn’t move or feel his legs and people started splitting up to go get help and shouting orders. Once the doctors and nurses arrived some of us helped to move him to the infirmary. After what seemed like hours Dr. Stanpole came out to tell us the news. He told us something we never expected. Phineas severed his spine. He was paralyzed from the waist down and would never be able to walk again. He said that Phineas needed rest so everyone should go back to their rooms. Everyone left but I was frozen. It was almost as if I had fallen with Phineas, I couldn’t bring my legs to move or walk away.…

3:15 am, I lie in the spot of my bed I’d always gone to for comfort, now lying there unable to move, think, breathe, sleep, trying to wrap my mind around the fact that my world would never be the same again. Randomly waking up in the early hours of the morning is something I rarely do, so waking up at 3:06 am looking around my room, seeing Kierra also happen to wake up wasn’t right. Looking over at my phone, seeing Mrs. Jennie was calling me, I hesitantly answered, unsure of what to expect. Still half asleep, I asked, “Hello?”. Is everything okay?”…

Alma laughed for the first time today. She clapped her hands, and the half-grown red, brown dog came leaping out of the brush beside her. She laughed even more as it jumped into her arms, like some little trick doggy. She petted it, let it lick at her chin, before pushing him down. “Naw, he comes from a long line of coon hounds, even if he is red and untrainable now. Pa wanted to kill him last week, when he ripped his pants.”…
