Styles of writing and use of available resources

In this following assignment we will be looking at styles of writing and the use of available resources in health and social care settings. We will describe how each available resource can be used to support health and social study care; we will also explain why the resources are presented differently due to the types of media used. We will then produce three pieces of information in Persuasive writing, journalistic writing and in a scientific report.

Recourses available to support my study in the media field could be textbooks and journals, internet websites, presentations, and newspapers/magazines.

Those without internet access at home can go a library or use their colleges internet, quicker and simpler to find information than with your average book, and tends to go into a lot of detail on whatever your chosen subject is. Also, the internet is always up to date, however with textbooks, magazines; journals once they have been published then they are final. They cannot go back and edit, the way the internet can. To make sure that the websites you are using are accurate you can use ‘CAPOW’. This will let you know if your research is unreliable.
Magazines/textbooks that are designed purposely for health and social care study tend to be wrote in a formal style, but as they are based on people’s opinions, they are not always as accurate as something such as a journal. However, magazines/textbooks are more eye catching making them more appealing to read and are an everyday, easy read and so do not stress you out or confuse you. They tend to be full of graphics which make you want to read the article more than you would just want to read a page full of writing, this also helps you pay more attention as you are more interested.
Presentations are regularly used in health and social care study as you are more likely to stay interacted if you are listening and communicating with a presentation, than you are if you were to sit down and read an essay full of

They can help share the work load as with an effective study group you could split the work in half by dividing the task with the members of the study group. Also, this will prepare you for future work as health and social work will demand working well with others, and so by working well with peers it is preparing you for multi-agency work. You can also learn a lot off your peers. By sharing each other’s notes and ideas you will see things from a different perspective, and as each member of the group has something different to other you can take advantage of each other’s

There are several different ways to deliver a presentation. You can use a slideshow using software such as Microsoft PowerPoint. This allows you to display text, videos, pictures/photos, music etc. Generally a slide will consist of very short bullet points or minimal information so the audience can keep in mind what is being discussed while the presenter gives more information. Presentations can be delivered verbally as a speech, though these tend not to keep the audience’s attention all of the time especially if it is a long speech. Using a projector is another way of delivering a project. It in essence uses a speech type presentation but allows things to be shown to the audience via the projector to keep interest and attention. This method is used a lot in classrooms and during lectures. Flip charts or white boards can also be used as a means of delivering a presentation particularly during interactive sessions where feedback is required from an audience such as while brainstorming or doing a consultation.…

Speak is written with the intent of drawing the reader in and initiating the gut feeling which we learned is created with the use of metafiction. Anderson writes the whole book in present tense and from Melinda’s point of view. The grammar she uses is casual and is written how a typical teenager would talk. The dialogue within Melinda’s head is sarcastic and vivid, starkly contrasting the introverted facade she erects to protect herself. This insight into her mind evokes sympathy for Melinda and a connection to a character that doesn’t really exist.…

In Stafford’s essay “A Way of Writing,” he claims that “receptivity” and “a willingness to fail” are key components to his writing process. Being receptive means that you are willing to receive something, in Stafford’s case, it is ideas and or someone else’s knowledge. If you are receptive towards others’ comments and ideas, it will only help you as a writer and give you more perspective and a different angle. A willingness to fail means that you are accepting of failure and you are aware that sometimes, you just can’t win. Having willingness to fail as a writer means that you understand that not every piece of work will be perfected and completed.…

    My Writing Style Analysis

The Nature of a person's writing style can sometimes show more about an individual then the words they actually write, the poetic twists in sentence flow or the professional structure of their grammar. Writing styles are as unique as fingerprints and to define them can be as arduous as mastering the skills required to properly form one. In the quest to define my own style I discovered a detail that I have determined encapsulates the style with which I write; I write with passion. When I say I am a passionate writer I don't mean that I love to write but more that my level of personal affection toward the subject I am writing on directly affects the emotional nature I write in. In other words, I write more expressively and artistically the…

Writing varies from a text message to a novel. Writers often have a difficult task in creating a piece of work that truly identifies the meaning of good writing. Every good writer usually starts with the basics such as genre, audience, rhetorical situation, and reflection of the piece. Throughout this semester, we have gone through all of these key terms in great detail with each new assignment that has come our way. In doing this, not only as students but also as writers, we have come to create our own theory of writing. Every writer has a different theory of writing though most are very similar. Now, at this point in the semester after doing countless journals, in-class exercises, and final assignments, I think I have figured out my own theory of writing.…
