Title: Subtitle
“Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.” The words said by Phil Donahy shows the real reason behind suicide. Phil Donahy is saying that the reason people people even want to commit suicide is because they want to solve their current issues with something that is permanent. Today’s society remains unaware of the epidemic of suicide among adolescents. Suicide is the third leading cause of death overall and the second leading cause of death in children causing the rates to go up over 50 percent over the last three decades (AAS). The film “Cry for Help” by Mary Murphy and Miller Arthur’s play “Death of a Salesman” gives a clear insight into causes and effects of suicide.

Children are now seeking happiness in place they will never find which leads to disappointment. Some might believe that being a child is the most precious time but it can completely be the opposite. Children expect joy and happiness all the time not knowing the total opposite can happen. Reason behind suicide among adolescents can include a psychological disorder, family history of suicide, drugs, alcohol, mental illness, homosexuality, and the top two depression and bullying. In the hit show “13 Reasons Why”, a teen committed suicide merely because she was being bullied. Often, other kids don’t realize what a major impact bullying can do to someone. The number one cause of suicide in young people is mental illness in the form of depression. Adolescents often commit suicide because they are overwhelmed with pain and see that suicide is their only option. This puts them in a state of depression.
