The author in this article talks about the betting history in the United States. According to the Wolohan, gambling on sport events is prohibited in every state, except four states while casino games and lottery are legal in every state, except Hawaii and Utah. The legal betting brings a lot of the money to the budget and can be collected as a tax revenue. Unfortunately, since the betting on sports is not yet legalized in every state a lot of betting occurs illegally and due to this reason, the government are not able to collect more money. Another problem which occurs due to betting is that people trying to arrange games with fixed scores and bet on those. This is a big problem for NCAA since student-athletes are not making any money yet from their athletic talent so it is easier to entice them into fixed matches by proposing some amount of money. In conclusion, the author suggests legalizing betting on sports and distribute collected money to youth sports across the nation.

According to the statistics, the sports betting is really popular and going on illegally, so that would make sense to get some piece of that cut and try to distribute the money wisely. However, in order to stop athletes from participating in fixed matches, I believe that NCAA should create a strict policy towards to issue and everyone who got caught involved into this, should receive a lifetime ban from competitive sports. I think that would scare everyone of even thinking about doing something like that. In conclusion, the legalized sports betting would bring additional revenue to the budget and might solve budget deficit
