With over 10 years of hands on experience as a healthcare worker, I have worked at several places and learned many things in my field. I have a very broad knowledge base. I am a certified nurse assistant, phlebotomist, and have my basic life support certification through The American Red Cross. I am in the medical assistant program to further my knowledge and skill base in the health care field.

Medical Assistant

Although I have a large skill base, I wanted to learn more. I want to be able to work in a fast paced environment that challenges me. I work best under pressure and strict deadlines. Upon completion of this program, I will know how to administer injections, assist with biopsies, better understand medical insurance, and most importantly, have the knowledge to make an educated decision regarding pursuing a registered nursing career.

Concentra Urgent Care

I chose to research Concentra for a couple of reasons. I have personal experience with the company. They have wonderful bed side manner and the staff has always been compassionate, patient, and extremely helpful.

Another reason I chose Concentra is because of their many locations. Although I would prefer to work at the 12 Mile and Hoover

I possess all of the requirements except one year of clinical operations or medical office work after externship. I will be on my way to meeting that requirement upon completion of this program. The reason I want to work there is because Concentra is a fast paced environment, and there are strict deadlines. Also, compassion and good bed side manner is a quality I have. In my opinion, it is one of the most important qualities a health care worker can

In today’s medical world the physician assistant career is one that is highly coveted and is predicted to continue to grow in the coming years. “As patients live longer and chronic illnesses grow more complex, health experts project a shortage of doctors and an even stronger demand for physician assistants” (New York Times, 2011). Physician assistants work as part of a medical team where they perform various tasks and it is rumored that they perform most of the doctor’s work. PAs have knowledge of most if not all of the medical procedures and responsibilities that doctors deal with and face on a daily basis. The significant difference between a physician…

My name is Tina Connor and I’m thirty four years old I was born here in Chicago. For the last seven years I have worked for the United States Post Office. The reason I would like to become a C.N.A. is because it will be the first step at achieving my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Once I receive my certificate I will be able to take my state board and enroll into the nursing program at Dabney University. With my certificate I will be able to work in hospitals, nursing homes, and provide home health care. Upon receiving my training I will be able to help my grandmother who is ninety six years old with more safe and quality care. My grandmother was my guardian she had to retire early to raise me from birth so I would like to be able to assist her as much as possible in her time of need (golden years). My grandmother would be so proud of me to get a degree that I should have obtained years ago since I graduated with honors and had a full scholarship to attend college. I didn’t know how important a college degree was at the time and we all make mistakes. I truly care about the well-being of others and enjoy being able to make a difference in the patient’s lives. I want to accomplish something important in my life, as a C.N.A. I will have the opportunity to make an impact in not only the lives of the patients that I help, but also their friends and families. While suffering from an illness, disease or disability the patient’s lives will be more comfortable, and it can be a very rewarding experience. Utilizing my skills and being dependable will also make a difference for the nursing team. The ladder only…

Some of the required skills for the field are critical thinking, active listening and learning, reading comprehension, time management, and judgement/decision-making just to name a few. You also must have knowledge in administrative management, customer and personal experience, clerical, and economics/accounting. Your personality also must be in sync with your career path as well. You must always have an attitude of determination. You must also have a severe passion for helping people and making a difference. After previously testing my personality traits and skills in the previous unit, I was pleased to learn new things about myself. My personality traits are as followed: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. Once I got a complete understanding of what these meant, I did notice a few areas that may need improving as far as my personality goes. Being social in this field is a great thing, because being a Healthcare Administrator requires you to be in constant contact with staff, medical personnel, and other officials’ majority of your day. Being realistic is a plus as well, you want facts. You want to be able to relay information that is 100% accurate always. As far as my other personality traits go, they are wonderful to have but I do not see them benefiting me in this…
