Std Nurse Reflection
I have been working as a Registered Nurse for 23 years. I have worked for PHDMC for approximately 15 years, 8 of which as a Public Health Nursing Coordinator in the STD Clinic. I am a dedicated employee and I put forth my greatest effort to serve the public in an effective and satisfactory manner.
Many of the public health nurses that I have trained in the past are currently making a greater salary than I am, even with fewer years of employment than I have. I have been the utmost dedicated employee and do not feel that I am being adequately compensated. I have gained a great deal more of responsibility in the past year and have received no recognition or compensation.
I would like to discuss this topic further and I look forward to a time

My name is Tina Connor and I’m thirty four years old I was born here in Chicago. For the last seven years I have worked for the United States Post Office. The reason I would like to become a C.N.A. is because it will be the first step at achieving my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Once I receive my certificate I will be able to take my state board and enroll into the nursing program at Dabney University. With my certificate I will be able to work in hospitals, nursing homes, and provide home health care. Upon receiving my training I will be able to help my grandmother who is ninety six years old with more safe and quality care. My grandmother was my guardian she had to retire early to raise me from birth so I would like to be able to assist her as much as possible in her time of need (golden years). My grandmother would be so proud of me to get a degree that I should have obtained years ago since I graduated with honors and had a full scholarship to attend college. I didn’t know how important a college degree was at the time and we all make mistakes. I truly care about the well-being of others and enjoy being able to make a difference in the patient’s lives. I want to accomplish something important in my life, as a C.N.A. I will have the opportunity to make an impact in not only the lives of the patients that I help, but also their friends and families. While suffering from an illness, disease or disability the patient’s lives will be more comfortable, and it can be a very rewarding experience. Utilizing my skills and being dependable will also make a difference for the nursing team. The ladder only…

    1. How would you describe your role in your current position and your educational preparation for this role? “Being a Masters trained nurse allows me to obtain advanced level positions within the field of study I love. I have leadership and educational nursing experience gained through the MSN program coupled with my personal nursing experience within hospice. It is my job to hire nurses and ensure they are properly trained and set for success within our company. I also have the skills and knowledge needed to assess potential patients and determine whether they meet criteria. Once we’ve admitted the patient, I am responsible for placing that patient on a team that I fell best fits that patients individual needs.” 2. How would you explain the unique contributions you as a nurse bring to an interdisciplinary team?“I believe we all have something special to bring to the team, but if I were to focus on my skills and attributes, I would say I have the training and knowledge needed to assess and treat the clients we serve. Being the clinical director for this office allows me the ability to hire and supervise nursing staff that I feel have the skills needed to ensure our patients and families are cared for in the best possible manner.”…

There are many instances in the recent past that will affect me greatly in my educational pursuits at Colorado Christian University. I am currently employed as a full time nurse and have been for the better part of the last five years. In that time, I have worked in several different settings; I’ve worked acute care, critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency care, and long term care. No matter what setting I’ve worked, I’ve noticed that my personality and faith play a big role in the care I provide my patients. Another key component that affects the care I provide is my knowledge; I am always looking for ways to expand that knowledge. In the past, I haven’t put a lot of effort into my schooling. However, with my growing experience as…
