1. What does this position entail? What/who are they responsible for?
In my opinion, director of volunteer services is mostly in charge of coordinating volunteers, organizing voluntary events and helping the community to get more united by providing volunteer opportunities. According to payscale.com, they also” assist with volunteer recruitment and selection, participate in training for internal and external individuals” (n.p.). I think they are responsible for not only volunteers but also the organization and the whole community. Since they are trying to offer more voluntary chances in order to bond the community.

But if there is human resource department for this organization, this department may help the director of volunteer services. The titles may be human resources manager, and for my understanding, human resources managers are more in charge of the hiring and selection, but they are not responsible for organizing voluntary events; however, director of volunteer services should take charge of organizing and managing voluntary …show more content…
I feel a little bit surprise that the average salaries have big difference between these two positions, because in my opinion, those two positions are equally important to a nonprofit organizations.

Some organizations may use audience development manager instead of director of audience development. American Ballet Theatre uses group services and audience development as their job title (abt.org, n.p.).

Using IU Auditorium as an example, they have several positions that are designed for enhancing the audience development. For example, they have a position for donor relation’s manager (iuauditorium.com, n.p.), since donors are most likely to be audience as well, so it is important to know what their needs are. Also, they have guest services manager (iuauditorium.com, n.p.). This position may focus more on subscribers and audiences or even potential audiences,
