Summary Of Atomic Habits By James Clear
James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, brings up and discusses the method to create and maintain habits. He brings to light the ease of creating the habit and how small changes in your life can have lasting effects. The situations of when and where you might start and comparing different methods is his main way of connecting and illustrating different ways to start. Throughout his situations, Clear effectively convinces his audience the steps of creating habits by using ethos, visuals, and real-world examples. Clear uses the ethos on several different occasions throughout his book. These sections introduce and contribute to the ideas stated in the chapters. How agriculture spreads easier in Asia because of the East-West facing, and similar climate. After that, he shifts from his original example into the habits and starts his argument. By using a simple statement that most people know but said by a respected scientist, like Diamond, he is able to build off ideas to contribute and introduce his own ideas. In the middle of the article, Clear uses another known figure, Twyla Tharp. Seen as one of the best dancers and choreographers of modern times, she attributes much of her success to her habits. Her simple ritual of getting up and going to work out is habitual and easy to do. Her statement claiming this furthers Clear’s idea how making actions easy and low effort can contribute to how much the habit stays in the day ritual. From both cases, from the perspective of a world-known dancer and a scientist, the evidence they provide effectively adds to the claim on how best it is to create habits. According to this article, James Clear gives us the definition about what motivation is and how it works along with how to get motivated and take action and how to stay motivated for the long-run. He paraphrased a line from a book, The War of Art, which he thought is the center point of motivation: “At some point, the pain of not doing it becomes greater than the pain of doing it.” This is accurate because everyone somehow find it easier to just not do something than to find the motivated about doing…

The Atomic Cafe includes a series of documentaries regarding the nuclear testing that was done by the United States in the Bikini Atoll. One of the scenes that thoroughly caught my attention, is a scene where an American soldier claims to a group of the native people that “The United States of America now wants to turn this great destructive force into something good for mankind”. This totally contradicts with the description of nuclear weapons given in the reading. The author in chapter one describes…
