The Atomic Cafe Summary
The Atomic Cafe includes a series of documentaries regarding the nuclear testing that was done by the United States in the Bikini Atoll. One of the scenes that thoroughly caught my attention, is a scene where an American soldier claims to a group of the native people that “The United States of America now wants to turn this great destructive force into something good for mankind”.
This totally contradicts with the description of nuclear weapons given in the reading. The author in chapter one describes and explains the hazardous effects caused by nuclear weapons. He explains that there no chances of survival for any individual that is affected by a nuclear weapon blast. He states that “ Each survivor of the blast would have on average about

The man has had the fortuitous of being part a nuclear attack and he can expect nothing but death.…

In the article, “The Day the Bomb Went Off,” Knoll and Postol argue nuclear bombs are catastrophic. The event of a nuclear attack would send humans back to the stone age, and put a halt on any technological advances. Furthermore, the effects of radiation would harm the population within a broad radius of a nuclear explosion. Readers may wonder what America would do under nuclear attack, and draw the conclusion nuclear bombs would destroy everything our society has accomplished.…

As the 33rd President of the United States, Harry S. Truman was unwillingly thrown into the stressful demand of ushering the lives of Americans through a gruesome world war. With bodies dropping at every attack, Truman erroneously believed that the only way to save thousands was to kill millions. Sadly, this world war’s pressure caused this abominable leader to make the gratuitous decision to drop a ghastly atomic bomb on the innocent people of Hiroshima. President Truman’s imprudent decision to squander the atomic bomb against the Japanese city of Hiroshima was pure butchery, was the result of his vulgar racism towards other nations, and was immorally unnecessary.…

In August of 1945, by the end of the Second World War, the world witnessed for the first time the extreme power of atomic weapons, in an unprecedented attack on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Although, for many, the use of that new piece of weaponry had been essential and only done to eliminate Japanese threat toward the United States, specialists in the subject expose possible other reasons for such attacks, which will be further analyzed. In a speech addressed to the nation of the United States after the first bombing, the former American President Harry Truman declared “Japan had begun the war from the air at Pearl Harbor”, and the nation had been repaid for what they had done with more destruction (“Press Release by the White House, August 6, 1945”). Bernstein argues that Truman’s statement is connected to the American people’s increasing demand for revenge on Japan for what had occurred at the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.…

The US atomic weapon testing on Bikini did not help the betterment of mankind because of the radiation. The radiation produced by the bomb killed many from overexposure to radiation, disease caused by radiation, on the consumption of irradiated food and water. Still today people are being effected from the bomb testing that happened in the early 1900s. Irradiated people that had babies could have babies that have birth defects or are stillborn. So this shows that the atomic weapon testing, conducted by the US, was not for the betterment of mankind, it was conducted so the US could see the outcome and what would happen to their ships and land.…

Millions killed in nuclear disaster, thousands left homeless, countries left in peril! These are some of the many consequences that are faced in a nuclear dependent world. Day after day people live in fear that one tiny mistake, one wrong word can cripple our world and leave the survivors living in rubble. The world has discovered that despite the enormous precautions taken, disasters and destruction still constantly resurface themselves through our short, but eventful nuclear history. During World War II, Albert Einstein sent a letter to President Dwight Eisenhower that has shaped mankind from that moment on. It described a weapon that would release enough energy to destroy an entire city("USA weapons of mass destruction." ). Now nearly four score ago the consequences we face for this technology has been detrimental to our society. Scientific discoveries also yielded the idea of using this extraordinary power as an energy source and a extraordinary threat.Due to these undeniable risks, the world needs to remove all sources of nuclear weaponry and power.…

First, Nuclear Weapons have strong mass destruction. For example, The United States sent "Little boy", a uranium gun-type fission bomb to Hiroshima, Japan. 3 days Later, The United States sent " Fat Man" in Nagasaki, Japan. More than 10,000 people died from these incidents. In my opinion, Nuclear Weapons didn't kill just people, but their family, their home and their dream.…

BOOM! That's the sound of a nuclear bomb going exploding, and a split second after a person hears that sound he most likely will be turned into a bed of ashes by the wall of fire that's coming towards him at 100 mph. If he's not burnt to a crisp by this great wall of fire, he will be killed by the nuclear fallout that will eat him alive starting from the inside and working its way out. There are many other nuclear weapons besides the atom bomb that kill, for example mustard gas. Mustard gas was used in the Desert Shield/Storm war on us by Sadaam Hussain and his men. This is the main reason why all of our men that were in the war in Saudi Arabia are now having medical problems. This is one of the three main causes nuclear weapons should be banned, not to mention the amount of money they cost, and the space they take up.…
