Summary Of Chasing Lincoln's Killer

James L. Swanson's Chasing Lincoln's killer is an adventures and thrilling book. It starts out with John Wilkes Booth planning the Lincoln's assassination inside of Ford's theater Washington DC. Booth wants to assassinate the president because Booth encourages the confederates and thought that if he killed the president then the confederates could win the war. This all happened in 1863 when the Northern states were fighting the southern states, Also known as the Civil war.
Booth was a spectacular actor of his time period. It was said that he had the perfect curves on his face, that just wowed the audience. This meant that he was widely known. “A card with Booth’s name on it would open almost any door in Washington.”(36) This shows how Booth
“The black powder charge exploded and split the bullet towards Lincoln's head...The bullet struck him in the head on the lower left side… and because of the angle of Lincoln's head at the moment of impact, made a dialog tunnel through Lincoln's brain.”(39-41). That was the part of the story where Booth had shot and killed the president. Throughout the whole book their are people who support Booth, hate Booth, and are neutral about Booth. Right after Booth had shot the president and jumped down from the president's box, some of the crowd didn’t do anything, and the other half yelled at him. Only one person was successful at just chasing Booth. Most of the people throughout the book hate Booth because most of the book took place in the North. There was only one part that was Booth vs Nature. It was Booth's most successful hiding place. Booth had broken his leg from the fall from the president's box. This hiding spot let booth rest, but Booth had to sleep on the damp ground which is not pleasant. Throughout the book Booth is just super selfish.
