I read the book Cinder by Marissa Meyer. This book is the first book of The Lunar Chronicles. The most interesting part of the book was that the author put a lot of twists and turns at the end. My least favorite part of the book was when the main character, Cinder, had witness her stepsister’s death. The author wanted us to learn do not judge from the outside but judge what is on the inside. I like this book because the author puts twist on the Cinderella story. Other student would like this book by how the story is in the future. My question, ’’Is she going to escape?”…

In the nostalgic memoir, “Girl Interrupted,” Kaysen’s imagery helps her share her experience with having to spend nearly two years in a mental hospital after being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. The patients of Mclean Hospital spent their days in empty rooms, and some were even lucky enough to have the ability to look out of “ tiny, high, chicken-wire-enforced, security-screened, barred windows.” Some people glorify mental illnesses or mental hospitals, but they do not realize the horror behind having to suffer from an illness. Living in a mental hospital is like living in prison since patients cannot escape until they are given permission by a doctor. In addition, mental hospitals contain “little bare rooms with…

Shortly after he got back to his family in New Beijing, he passed away from Letumosis, more commonly known as “the plague”. Because he traveled to Europe and adopted Cinder, she was always blamed for his death, even though there was not anything that she could do about it. She stated, “My step-- my guardian, Adri, always suspected he got it in Europe. When he adopted me.”, Cinder told this to Dr. Erland, a doctor that she was sent to after Adri found out that her real daughter had acquired Letumosis after going to a junkyard with Cinder. She was sent to be a guinea pig for testing to find a cure, even though she did not volunteer. Adri still thought that she owed it to Peony, her step sister because she once again thought it was Cinder’s fault that one of her family members went out and got the plague. Although, it made absolutely no sense that Adri made that decision because Cinder was the family’s only source of income, she worked as a mechanic at the market to make money for them.
