Summary Of I Ll Give You The Sun

In the book, I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, two twins named Jude and Noah are very close. Noah was an artist that was starting to take a liking to his neighbor, Brian. Jude was a popular girl that was known to be a daredevil. Three years later, it's different. Jude is the one going to art school, Noah stopped drawing, and they barely talk. They both are finding out more about their family and the people they know as they start to become close again. I believe this book is well written. For example, in this book the point of view changes from them being thirteen to them being sixteen in the next chapter. Not many authors could do something like that and have it be a enjoyable book, but the author did a nice job with that. Many new
characters are introduced throughout the story, and once again, the author was able to pull it off without adding so many people the book got confusing. Another example of why it was a good book is the fact that all the characters had different personalities, but at the same time they somehow were similar. Noah thought with paintings, when he would imagine something, it would say ‘Self Portrait: A Window Flies Open In My Class’ after this thought. (Page 12) Jude would think with quotes, such as ‘In every set of twins, there is one angel, one devil’. (Page 40) I would recommend this book to certain people. This is because Noah, one of the main characters and one of the twins, is gay. I am not sure if a person that doesn't like that would want that kind of book offered to them. It has many interesting details that if you miss, the book won’t be clear. Which encourages me to read the whole book and not skip any parts to make it seem faster, which I admit I have done while reading some books. This is a book I would recommend to people and I enjoyed reading it.
